Customizing globe (wap browser) and envelope (messaging) buttons

I know that these can be modified somewhat, or turned off, using one of the menu editors, but I'm wondering if these can be customized and I can't find any info on this anywhere.
I'd like to have the globe jump me to Opera Mini and the envelope to take me to the Gmail app.
Is such a specific customization even possible?

you can change the browser key in seem 0313_0001 and the message key in seem 0314_0001. however, you can only change them to menu commands such as Camera, Sounds, etc, not to specific java apps.
