Where to find Sharp car charger??

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Does anyone know where to buy a genuine/oem Sharp car charger for recent Sharp phones? Can't find them anywhere. All the sites seem to be (non-English) European that don't have a shipping option to the US...hope I can understand, though. Will Sharp TM150 charger work for 903/703/etc?.

whats wrong with European sites?

Posted by: otakki

Non English pages that don't ship to US.

Try Tim. I know he had them before? Don't buy none original charger, I killed my GX32 like that ...

Posted by: otakki

Thanks. Sorry to hear about your GX32...Does TM150 charger work on 703/903/etc?

The price is 85 CAD. Try to find somewhere cheaper, if not, buy from Tim.

Honestly I don't know, sorry. But charger from GX works great with 903 and 904, because I tried it. I think the charging socket is universal and it should work with TM150, but again, ask somebody else.

Thanks for the link, Baraccuda. I think that item is also generic...and I'm now even more scared after hearing what happened to your GX32. I just saw a post by Tim, who was also looking for a Sharp car charger?!?! Hey Tim, are you there...Did you find that car charger?

Have you tried contacting Sharp in the UK? They may be able to sell you one, although I couldn't find a sales option on their website.

No, Sharp in the UK wouldn't have a clue. The Sharp subsidiaries don't know anything about Sharp phones because they're made in Japan and shipped directly to Vodafone, keeping them out of the loop.

If Vodafone don't sell them, your best bet is eBay or some other online retailer. Genuine OEM chargers are hard to come by...

how about a TM150 OEM charger?

Posted by: otakki

Thanks for everyone's reply. It looks like TM 150, 802, 902 and all the post GX10 & GX20 all came out at the 3rd quarter in 2004. From the Sharp UK site, it looks like all of those use OEM car charger XN-1CL30, as opposed to XN-1CL10 for GX10's and GX 20. Unfortunately, TM150 is not on the Sharp UK's left column list. According to many ebay ads for a NEC 515/525 charger, the same plug is used for GX, 903, 703, and also TM150. So I am assuming the charger plug at the phone end are all the same for post 3rd quarter 2004 models (correct me if I am wrong).

The next part is the power output. I'm not sure about the TM150's car charger output specification. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think "mA" just refers to how fast the battery will be charged. The voltage is what I am wondering. I am not sure how much difference will it make between 5.2V and 6V...but I sure don't want to take a chance frying my phone.

So I am wondering if anyone knows a TM150 oem car charger's output specification. At the same time, I'm wondering about the difference between a XN-1CL30 and a XN-1CL10...

If you give me a few days I can check out the Vodafone shop to see if they have any chargers for Sharp - I am not sure if they will be original, but I am sure if the Vodafone shop sells them, they are ok, since most Sharps are Vodafone exclusives these days. It may not be cheap either.... but it would work i'm sure

What model is your phone?

Posted by: otakki

Thanks Junglizt. I have a 703.

By the way, just saw this NEC charger for Sharp on ebay, but not sure what its specs were, though. I hope the seller would respond back to my questions.

Any charger with proper plug and 5-6V @ 600-650+ mA will work for Sharp phones. Doesn`t matter if it`s from different Sharp models, NEC, Panasonic, Toshiba or cheap chinese travel charger, they`re all compatible.
Your GX32 died thanks to broken charger, that happens.
Charger from this auction will NOT work with 903, you can say this to seller (side plug! 903 requires stright plug!) but will work with other phones listed, also with 703.

that will work, although its an NEC original charger (the type of plug)

Thanks for everyone's reply to my post. I don't know if I should put up a new post here or at another location to seek help. I hope my following post is legal on this site. If not, please let me know...

Here is the situation: After weeks and weeks of combing the internet daily, I finally typed in the correct search words on google and stumbled ...surprise, surprise...to the Australian Vodafone website. THEY HAVE IT:

http://store.vodafone.com.au/access...il.cfm?accID=88

The problems is...they ship ONLY to within Australia. I had just received an e-mail back from them and followed up with a phone call to them...no way will they send it out of Australia.

So I am wondering if any members in Australia can possibly help me out by buying one for me and shipping it to me (in USA). I can pay you via Paypal in AUD before you ship it to me. I have been a long time member at ebay and can prove to you with my ratings I am not trying to pull a scam on anyone.

So if anyone from Australia can possibly help me out, please e-mail me at otakkis@hotmail.com or reply to this post about how I can contact you. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I was quite shocked the Australian Vodafone subsidiary out of everyone would be the ones to save the day here. They rarely ever do that.

That said, they're being sold at a bargain AU$15, which probably means they're clearing them out. Vodafone don't sell any Sharp models at all here anymore, so these are probably dead weight inventory to them. You'd best find someone to get them for you sooner than later.

And I can't help because I don't have/want a Paypal account. Sorry.

Hello to all,

After speaking with a fellow member, I figure I would copy and paste the knowledge I have gained from all these time I spent online researching on oem Sharp car charger...it might be useful info for people who are in the same twisted, paranoid state of mind as me about generic charger.

Here it is...the title should be something like "To see whether or not oem Sharp TM150 car charger is comparable to oem Sharp car charger for 9series/8series/7series/GXseries(except 10/20)"...

"Now that part about looking at how it's made and what kind of secure circuit were used is really making me worried. You definitely have more expertise in electricity than me. As for me, I have hardly any knowledge in electricity...I don't think I can really tell. All I can do is try to match the output and try to get it from one that is contracted by Sharp (or other big companies) and hope it's reliable.

Yes, they are all made in China by contracted by different manufacturer such as Sharp, etc and are probably all very similar.

By the way, I have also spending some time looking at TM150's car charger (that seems more common and readily available on ebay and online in USA)...just to show you how desperate I am. I still have yet to get any seller or anyone to tell me the output spec in mA and V. I understand they are all large volume sellers who can't really go into a warehouse just to look for a silly info like that. I had finally managed to find one site that listed TM150's desk AC adapter output as 5.2V at 500mA. Now that's almost the same as oem 903/703/etc's desk chargers' output. So I figure TM150's oem car charger wouldn't be too far off. It seems TM150's oem car charger is produced via contract through Audiovox (not a big name but definitely not no-name).

My question is (since you seem to know electricity stuff well), the "mA" is just how fast a charger will charge, right?"

All right, just shared what I had learned.
