Obtain a copy of Motorola Phone Tools 4.3.6c and set it up to see a Motorola V323. Another post in this forum states that the ic502 is technically identical to the V323 with the addition of iDEN capability for Nextel's PTT service.

An observation: I noticed after shutting down MPT, unplugging my ic502 and power cycling the phone, the phone would not boot back up. I plugged the charger into and got a Moto logo with 'BOOTLOADER USB INI' on the bottom part of the screen.

I popped the battery off and removed the SIM card for a few seconds to clear the phone's memory of any data. Reinstalled the SIM card and battery, pressed the power key and the phone booted up just fine.

For the heck of it, a few minutes later I power cycled the phone again. Same thing occurred. . .had to repeat the same procedure again.

Normally, I leave the phone on 24/7 and will plug it in to the charger when it needs juice. . .so, it really doesn't matter all too much. . .

Anybody familar with this BOOTLOADER USB INI issue on this (or other Moto phones) unit?

Great phone. . .nice loud audio and good Sprint wireless coverage!

Thanks for the tip. I tryed that but it just wont recognise this phone to use the media tools. I switched it to the v323 but it just says initializing please wait and nothing happens. But when I use the Generic CDMA it works for the Phone book and sync modes but not the media tools. Any other suggestions?

Actually people are having these problems randomly when they plug in their charger, nothing to do with using MPT. I've seen 2 today at my store.. one was able to fix by pulling the battery and restarting, the other wouldn't come out of bootloader mode for anything.
