V3xx, 3Vr and 3Vi cost difference?

At Cingular.com:

V3xx $79.99 after rebate
V3r $129.99 after rebate
V3i $199.99 after rebate

Why is the newer V3xx priced less than the other older V3 versions?

I think it has to do with the V3xx being an unspectacular looking phone compared to the V3r and V3i - both of which look newer and sexier than the V3xx. Combine that with what maybe Cingular trying to push it's 3G handsets at cheaper price points and that could explain it.

That or Cingular just feels like it.

How so they look pretty much alike to me?

V3i and V3r have the glowing blue Motorola logo (which is very different compared to a V3). Not only that but the V3i,r both look glossier than the V3xx in my opinion.

But what if Cingular is positioning the V3xx cheaper than the V3i and V3r in an attempt to push more people towards that model and NOT the older ones that way when HSDPA/3G is more prominent more people will already have phones that can use the higher speed.

I ask the same question on Sat. when i picked up my v3xx at my local cingular store.......the guy told me it is because the v3i has i-tunes, so apple has to get its cut to, and the same for the v3r I guess.
