couple v3xx quirks

First--wish it had the most updated version of voicesignal--version 2 that has been in the verizon sets kills the original version.

Second--when using voice dialing without a BT HS, it starts up in speakerphone, and you have to hit the right soft key to make it go back to the regular ear piece.

Third--we all know about the speaker phone open issue.

I think that's really about it--very nice phone otherwise, blows away my previous v3,v3i in terms of usability and overall speed of the UI--moto finally fixed the lag problem of previous gen phones. The music player is really good, and works perfectly with my ds970 BT headphones. I think I'm going to keep it--unless something better comes out in the next 25 days or so.

Also, when you use VoiceSignal and "Name Dial", it uses entries located on the SIM instead of the ones stored in the phone.

I am noticing some changes that Motorola did that was not for the best. Like you said.

1. When using voice dialing without a BT HS, it starts up in speakerphone, and you have to hit the right soft key to make it go back to the regular ear piece. Doesn't do it on the V3i.

2. VoiceSignal and "Name Dial" uses my contacts from the phone but it doesn't seem to recognize that there may be more than just 2 or it just dials the first nubmer.

3. What I hate is the open phone while on speaker.

Yeah, your #2 above. The little voice dial help blurb said if there was more than one number for a contact, it would ask which one. It has done that a couple of times, but usually it just dials the "primary number" from the SIM. That's annoying.

mine works 100% but all of my contacts are on the phone, none on the sim...that's prob your problem

and I like the fact that voice commands starts in speakerphone mode...I don't have to rush to try to get the phone to my head to say a command any longer.

These are all problems that can be overcome with future software updates.
Some of them I hope they impliment.

Wirelessly posted (MOT-RAZRV3xx/96.71.95R BER2.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; 11063081) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 Opera 8.00 [en] UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

Anyone get ORB working on the v3xx? I keep getting file type not recognized.

They have also (FINALLY) implemented the smoother Motorola fonts that the CDMA RAZR's have had since the E815. This was one minor detail that kept me from purchasing a GSM RAZR.

Yeah but unlike on the E815, they've mimimized the icons for work and home... This really irks me!! And to add injury to insult it no longer shows where contact is calling from any longer. ex. if mom is calling you it will only say "mom" no indicator any longer of it's moms cell, home, work etc etc.

For all the great steps forward why did they choose to make these minute blunders!?!?!?!?

Does it really matter where she is calling from as long as she is calling you in the first place??

This is the 1st software release for this phone in the U.S. I am sure there will be software updates in the future. Write Motorola and tell them your concerns/suggestions.. i do.

Oh, and the smoother font has a mostly to do with the QVGA screen quality. Even though it looks more like the CDMA fonts than the older GSM Moto fonts.

When someone calls me, it shows the icons of where they are calling from(i.e. cell, home, work). Did you set the type under the MTN for each of your contacts?
