No. From what I was told at Cingular, all text messages regardless if it's AIM or SMS get charged the same way, which is ******** IMO.

No, I was on the phone with multiple idiots at Cingular that explained to me that REGARDLESS if it's a web-based data app like Agile Messenger, you're still getting charged per msg like a text. I asked this question because I have unlimited data and only got that so I could avoid getting charged for IM's. Cingular is double dipping IMO by charging for data and a msg, since Unlimited Data would suggest UNLIMITED IM's since they're over the net! Unfortunately, cingular disagrees. Check your bill, or call and ask. You're in for a sad surprise bro. Those IM's still get charged in and out like regular text messages regardless of the unlimited data plan.

how much data do those programs use? Would u need a data plan or can u do a pay as u go?

Sorry but you're completely incorrect, having used both Agile and IM+ they are not charged as text messages. They use the data connection and frankly there is really no easy way for Cingular to even know that it's an IM program is using the data connection.

this octro is weird.... when i try to sign on (under accounts i put myscreenname@aol.com and my password) it keeps telling me "reconnecting to internet" I cant get myself online... can anyone help?

Posted by: monkey28rb

i think you have yo have a gmail account in order to use it

Posted by: solo118

it says it will work with aim too... but i did set up a gmail account just in case and it still could not connect

Posted by: mochachip

thats interesting b/c mine works fine with my gmail account set up first...you have to have the gmail account on but can im via aim, but the gmail one just needs to be running

Posted by: octro

You need to use the GMail username/password to login. After logging in, you can configure AIM/Y!/MSN/ICQ.

OctroTalk has problems connecting via ActiveSync on some phones. If you are having trouble, try removing the cable and using your EDGE/GPRS connection -- it should work then.

If you have any problems, you can always check the PDF manual available on our website (http://www.octro.com/) under support, or write to us at support@octro.com
