The 8525 device is a real PITA when it comes to customized rom updates. There's a lot you can do but you must become very familiar with hermes ideosyncracies to do it. Bottom line is that this ROM (as well as what will soon be posted officially) has the 1.0108 radio bootloader. If you don't know what this means, please find out before trying the update available on XDA! The Hermes Wiki has your answers. |

Most importantly, the signal change appears to be 'seamless' when I change from 2G to 3G and back to 2G. This is the way the phone should have worked to begin with. On the 1.34 ROM I had problems of dropping all signals and problems re-acquiring when in a 3G fringe area. Seems to work 'correctly' now, but more observation is needed. |

I did try Cingular Video and it told me that I was in need of a compatible data plan before I watched any clips, but at least it looked like it wanted to roll... I kept hitting the PTT button on accident and it kept asking me to set up a PTT name. Finally I tried, and it just said something about "Please contact Cingular for PTT service" Oh, I can't stream XM anymore either with this ROM. :-( |

I sure want to feel foolish for spending over half a grand on an iPhone that'll be outdated in a few months.

Opening messages resulted in still showing the today screen before: issue is gone.. My 8525 seems quicker and button presses are much more responsive.. The battery is night and day.. I thought I was going to have to buy a new battery before but after the flash and all my original installs this thing has regained it's original battery life.. Makes me wonder how long I could go with a new bat.. 4 days? If you think you want to do this upgrade with mtty, read the How-tos and the thread at xda, at least through the first 4 pages.. Get some insight about where people are going wrong/ making mistakes.. I think it is worth it..

I would be happy to make a RUU for anyone uneasy about doing it themselves.

Many of us who don't use PTT want to assign that 5th button to Voice Dial. And Slueth's Fix gives us that 5th button back. |

Also in the phone screen the right soft key has an option for the Smart Dialer, make sure it is turned on. |

I always post new updates within the threads so the folks watching like hawks can beta test (usually, these guys are the ones who need the fix the most too). If all goes well, I go "official" by updating post 1 with the new cab and an updated changelog.....

They can not make it any safer or easier, an exe file is as easy as it gets. Do you feel better if you download the file from HTC site? I dont at least we know the bugs better when the REAL power users at XDA test them out.
