Raise questions?

I know that we get raises every six months but I just got another raise as well as all my co workers. What is this other raise for?

if your store is unionized, theres usually a small increase, then a bigger one like, a pay period or two later.

Is that once a year or twice a year (and for which one)?

All of your raises should be in your union handbook... as far as I understand, you get two "steps" a year (1 every 6 months) then once a year you get an annual raise. From the pay scales I have seen for the Central Region, it is set up in four columns of 15 steps. Every 6 months you move down 1 line, to the next step. Then every year you move over 1 column to the correct column for that year.

You can also ask your Union rep for one.

From my understanding, you get a pay increase at 6 months and at 1 year. Also you get an Annual raise on the date the union contract was ratified.

I don't have the agreement book, but there is some basic info on the cwa site.

Wage progression steps that provide automatic 6-month increases;
Annual wage increases in addition to our 6-month wage progression;

Check your CWA local website; most post an electronic copy of the contract on their websites; link below:

Found my book, i will only say that we get a raise every 6 months, plus an annual adjustment at the end of February. Don't pm me or ask me to post the rate as I will NOT answer and will delete it.

There's a lot of bargained employees who want to opt out of the CWA. Unfortunately, you can deny to be a member, but you still have to pay the dues.

The union should not be in COR...

In TX, you do not have to pay union dues at all. If you are in TX and are being forced to pay dues, it is a violation of the right to work laws and you need to contact your payroll department and file the paper work to stop the deductions. Now, in California, you must pay union dues if you work for a union shop as that is the law. At least I believe it's the law, but it you are required to do so.

Iowa is also a right to work state, not to mention not everyone in our market is unionized. We don't have deductions, and our CWA rep hasn't been by in, oh, 6 months? Basically, all the union does is pay increases, health insurance and the scheduling system from hell.
