I lost my data cable a couple of months ago and only just now replaced it with a Belkin 5-Pin Mini-B Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Cable
. Before I lost the original I had no problems connecting the device to my PC (sync etc.). Now when I connect the Cingular 8125 to my PC I get the charging light on the device, but Windows does not see it at all. I have tried ActiveSync and then cardexport which makes the computer see the device's memory card as a removable drive. Neither work
. I have done a couple of master resets and still nothing. I even tried plugging it in to my father in law's computer just to see if windows would react at all, it won't
. I'm getting ready to run current ROM update even though I already have the most current Cingular ROM on the device. Any body have any ideas?
Thx.

This thread is the closest thing I could find in 10 minutes of searching which was similar to my question.
Is the HTC 8125 USB cable proprietary? I just got a free 8125 from my boss who upgraded to an iPhone. But he has not given me the charger cable for it...and he will be out of town until next Monday.
My options are to buy a charger cable for it, and have two once he gives me his...or I can plug it into cables that I already have at home in the meantime until he gives me the charger. I may end up just buying a car charger for it anyway...but it would be nice to know if I need a special cable to sync or charge it via the PC...
Any help is appreciated.

The cable is the standard Mini-USB cable. You may have to change your active sync settings a few times to get it to work. I remember there were times when mine didnt sync, and i just the setting back and forth and it would register.
My new Kaiser does it sometimes also. They are a little tempremental. Be sure to use the same USB port as it may help.

Do yourself a favor and grab the iGo setup from radio shack. You buy one slinky charger, and then everytime you get a new phone or need to charge a different device, the end swaps out with another adapter. Its a really high quality setup IMO. I have three of each for all my different vehicles.

hey guys, I was having a similar problem and it turned out to be that a log file in the temp directory was the culprit. You have to stop the active sync program. Then can just delete everything in your temp directory (C:\Documents and Settings\*your name here*\Local Settings\Temp) or just the files starting with "WCES". This worked for me.
