Adding apps to a verizon 700w

is it possible to add 3rd party apps to the verizon palm 700 or does verizon lock the phone down and only allowed apps purchased from them. Im wondering because I have a slingbox on am looking in the market for a phone that I will be able to install the player on it. Even if I have to force it on it via cable somehow that is fine. I just want to make sure I can install programs written for windows os even though its a verizon phone and I know how they usually are
