2125 vs 3125 Comparisson

OK, I could use some help here.

I'm currently using a BlackJack, having previously used several other smartphones (among them the 2125 and SMT5600). My wife is looking to move from her RAZR to a smartphone but doesn't need a QWERTY keyboard. She's interested in the 3125 (which I haven't used yet).

While I've read a lot about the phone, I want to put it more in perspective of other phones I've already used.

Is it fair to look at the 3125 as being the functional equivalent of a 2125, except (a) being in a form factor that is almost identical to a RAZR, (b) replacing standard miniUSB with a proprietary connector, and (c) replacing miniSD with microSD?

Are there other distinctions that can be drawn between the 2125 and 3125?

Thanks!

AMG

In my experience, and I have both phones, the 2125 gets better signal than the 3125. I'm guessing that it's because the 2125 is all plastic where the 3125 has some metal elements in the outer case, but who knows. The difference isn't remarkable, maybe an average 1 bar difference in most cases (and I know that the bars don't always mean anything) but in places where signal is REALLY low, the 2125 usually works where the 3125 doesn't. I wouldn't consider the 3125 poor...just not excellent. If I were giving grades out for signal holding quality, I'd give the 2125 (and the V3 for that matter) an 'A' and the 3125 a 'B'.

Also had them both and use the 3125 sometimes on weekends and as a backup. SockMonkey is right about the reception but if you live in a pretty covered area, you'll be fine. MS VC for SP works well for me on the 3125. You can save some addtional equipment investing by buying the adapters that allow you to use your mini--usb chargers and cords with the 3125. Mobileplanet has them and if I remember right are about $10.00. Almost forgot that with the Cingualr 3125 you get the increased levels of rom.

Wirelessly posted (Palm750/v0000 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320) UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

also of note is that the 3125 suports a2dp and avrcp bluetooth profiles.

I'd check the battery capacity of both, the 3125 may have a larger battery, dunno...but given that they both run the same basic radio and stuff, if it is larger, it'd give you longer battery life w/ the 3125.

Also, 3125 has 128mb rom, you can actually install apps until your hearts content...w/o a microsd card...2125 is only 64mb which is pretty limited and there are quite a few apps that you have to install on the phone and will not run from the memory card.
