i got a little problem here, ive sent maybe 10 ringtones to my phone over email (hotmail) and i know i should get a data cable, im workin on it, but anyway...a few ringtones come out VERY clear, and they sound quality, but other ones i send come out muffled and it peaks and just doesnt sound right...whats the best format (bit rate, .wav, .mp3) to use? by the way the other ringtones i sent to my phone were mp3's, im not sure of the bit rate, etc

hey man. i have the telus one and it does the same thing. i find its the bass in some songs is wut makes it all muffled. so far my fix has been to cut the bass, up the treble and boost the volume. works real well. i use only mp3's @ 128 bit rate. you can use more or less depending on wut u want. i also make the sample rate 48000 hz but u can use 44 if u want. just make sure to cut the bass. thats wut i find ruins them since the one speaker on the choco sux. hope that helps

good is 192 bit rate and 44 hz mp3 sound good on lg chocolate

should be fine

if you have a song bitrate lower than 32, the quality will be bad.

i could even rip a cd as 320 kb and it will still sound like echoy/muffled sometimes...

ya. even at 320 if the speaker cant handle the bass it will sound muffled. and 64 sounds like crap even if you clean it up. u would stay no lower than 112. if u really really wanna save room then i guess 96. but i usually stick with 128. just lower the bass and if u want, u can up the treble.

i know how to adjust the sample rate to 48000 but how do u adjust the bass/treble and boost it to 192bit rate???

i was curious... what do you guys use to edit the mp3's to the part of the song that you want?

1. "guys i have a chocolate from telus lg vx8000, what was the best way to upload ringtones, does bitpim work for the telus version."
- I like to use USB to upload my ringtones to the Telus LG 8500. Others prefer BT. Yes, Bitpim works fine with the Telus 8500. No major issues after uploading over 50 or so tones.

2. "i know how to adjust the sample rate to 48000 but how do u adjust the bass/treble and boost it to 192bit rate???"
- You don't really need to use 48. I used to, then I switched to 44. I don't notice a difference. To adjust the bass and treble depends on the app you use. I used to use Audacity. I don't think you can adjust the bass/treble with it. If you can, then I'm blind! To change bit rates also depends on the app you use.

3. "i was curious... what do you guys use to edit the mp3's to the part of the song that you want?"
- i use and love (so far) Cool Edit Pro 2.0 to do my editing. I can customize almost any tone I choose to my specs. Whereas if I bought from Telus or the Much Music site, sometimes it doesn't fade in/out when I want, doesn't sound good, I don't get exactly what the preview shows... etc. Oh, and the voice tones or whatever costs like 4 bux a pop including download fee. Well around that much. I forget, even still, that's a lot to pay for a tone when you can buy the track for a buck or so and tweak it! Plus, it's fun to work on something and have it turn out better than something others buy.

Are you guys interested in a picture tutorial for editing tones on my version of Cool Edit? If so, I can try to jimmy something up.

Follow both the guides in my sig. As far as bitrate goes, I've had the best success with 128Kbps. The sample rate really doesn't need to be altered beyond 44 either. Really, any section of a regular MP3 works great. Believe me, I've booted up Adobe Audition and used all sorts of normalize filters, capped the base and treble, all that jazz. When you modify it to much, as expected, it gets distorted.
