as the title of my thread states, im trying to decide between the two phones. the price difference doesnt really bother me that much, but if the 8125 gives me more bang for my buck, ill get it by all means. hope to hear from you guys soon.

I sold my 8125 and bought the 8525 and don't regret it a bit. Much faster unit, smaller, etc. Great unit. I like the number keys better on the keyboard too. Big difference in the layout. They have the phone style layout instead of across the top of the keys.

Depends on how much you want 3G. If that's not a biggie for you...
I'm probably going to be alone on this, or amongst a small few, but I would get an Wizard/8125 without a doubt. Smaller, lighter, better form factor, faster (with the newest cooked ROMs and overclocking), better A2DP, more stable, etc.
I think people have been enamored of the TyTN/8525 because it's been the new thing for a slider... well, that said, there are better PPCs coming along. For that matter, what about a Herald/4350? Those who have it seem to love it!!
Again, depends on if you want 3G... if so, get the TyTN. If not, a Wizard or a Herald, then replace it sometime over the next year or so.
*There are some other things that are nice on a TyTN, I just don;t think they are that important in a buying decision: 2MB camera, keyboard layout, etc. And a TyTN has another advantage over an 8525, which is a forward video camera... again, not a deciding factor.

well, im not getting it for the 3G. im going to use it for its WIFI capabilities, the mp3 player, and the A2DP for wireless headphones.
rpodos...you said the 8125 is faster, but the stats of the 8525 show that it has a processor thats 2x faster...are the ROMs and overclocking something that i could do myself (im not particularly great with computer/electronic stuff)?

Processor speed in and of itself is not the determining factor in overall device speed. Look at the reviews of the Herald/4350... a number of very experienced users have commented on their surprise that it's speed more or less matched the TyTN. Again, this is not as regards 3G and related capabilities, such as streaming video.
The 8125 has had a LOT more in the way of advanced user experimentation and tweaking at the system level, thus my feeling that it can match the TyTN in actual use. Overclocking and ROM flashing? Not too hard... there are a bunch of people here and at XDA who can help (as long as you pay attention).
Going back to your specific use: A2DP on the TyTN *sucks*. Don;t just depend on my saying so... ask in some of the TyTN and 8525 threads.

I am buying an 8525 very shortly. My boss has an 8125, from all indications the 8525 is a better model so I would not recommend getting an 8125. Not to mention that it is much more "Future proof" since it supports 3G and will get the faster speeds once they roll it out in your area, if they haven't already.
