Hi. as an existing cingular customer, I ordered the new palm 750. received it and put my phone chip in it just to check a few things out. Now I went and pout in the new 3g chip that (sim) camewith it and no dial tone or number.

Called cingular to port my existing number to it and the rep stated it has to be done in a store.

IS that true? all I want to do is check out the 3g speed and internet on the phone.

Well I did what everyone typically does, called Cingular back. a helpful lady took down the 3g card info and activated the 3g card. Heres the kicker:

She staed my contract is still (just like the old plan) the 29.99 plan and that amazon activated the contract on 1/25. Thus if I wanted a data plan I just need to call her (cingular) back and choose a plan. Isn't this whacky or is it typical? I thought Amazon set up the new contratc with what I picked, 39.99 data plan (which was required and a new voice plan=? can someone shed some light on this?

Do not activate the new sim if you do you will get hit with a 2 year contract

well she already did that on phone and it works now. but the contract terms are still my old terms. There will not be any contract if I return the phone and just go back to the way it was (which it is now I guess becase Amazon didn't change the terms)
