How Mobilitysite.com screwed me out of a Jaq3

Well I'm not sure if any of you knew about the Jaq3 contest over at mobilitysite.com. Chris Leckness had one and was giving it away. Anyway he was posting keywords in pink over a bunch of days that would make a sentence on the last day(today) and the first person to "CORRECTLY" post that string of words into the sentence won the Jaq3. Well Sooby77, whom we all know and I have no problem with was lightning fast and posted the first reply probably a second or two before I did.

But... Mobilty site has a funky site where posting replys in posts takes you to like 2 different pages and it's all clunky. So the first post on the page had the word HOLD in pink but not with a question mark. So I click the link to reply and in that link the same post was there with the word HOLD? with the question mark in pink wich made more sense to me since that is actually a sentence now. So I saw that after I wrote my reply then scrolled down and added it.

Well without even thinking about it Chris Leckness declared Sooby the winner. There are other people who posted who say they saw the pink question mark in the post also. Anyway Chris went back and changed the post then Sooby went back and changed his post with the question mark, whatever. I think Chris at the end felt bad and added a bonus thing where if you answered the sentence correctly, which was "How many ounces of beer does a half-barrel keg hold"?"" which is 1984. 15.5 gallons, which I did also in my original reply, you would get a case from cases.com. Man if that's not admission of guilt...

Anyway I hate to sound like a sore loser but I just wanted to vent as some of you may know how bad I wanted that phone.

Again Sooby please post some good pics and a real review of this thing. Leckness I don't think is a "power user" as he rated this thing a 4.3 out of 5. I mean it doesn't have 3G and it's OMAP is not overclockable... I mean, in his video of it all he did was test out the games.

However I still wanted to feel it for myself. You know, qwertybar...
Sorry Chris Leckness if you think I'm being a bad sport but I'm REALLY pissed. You should at least redo the contest since you fumbled it.

Well, that would be the appropriate thing to do provided it happened like you said. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Thanks for letting us know. Cheers, Sabesh.

Update:

First off here's the contest "RULES"

Clearly it states pink words. One of Chris' earlier posts for some reason had 3 of's in pink in his post. And here it is:

So I changed my answer to "How many ounces of of of beer does a half-barrel keg hold". That would be the correct answer. What is the deal? I think the contest might have been rigged. Or Chris Leckness just does stuff haphazardly. I dunno they just won't own up and do the right thing.

Well that's that. Now I'm going to be all pissed off tonight. Thanks MOBILITYSITE

Well if the winner posted before you, then your whole argument is based on pedantry. So let's have a look at what you say...
You say the original answer was not correct because it didn't include a question mark. But the contest was to search for key words, and a question mark isn't a word, it's a punctuation mark.

On the other hand, let's say we agree with you, and the question mark was needed for the answer to be correct. According to you, your final answer was "How many ounces of of of beer does a half-barrel keg hold". By your rules, no question mark, so still incorrect. You can't have it both ways!

Or be really pedantic, and follow your other argument saying that the answer must be a sentance(sic), and without the question mark, the answer was wrong, because it was not structurally or grammatically correct.

By these rules, your answer of "How many ounces of of of beer does a half-barrel keg hold" was not a proper sentence either (by punctuation or grammar). So no win there then, even if you had posted first.

Me thinks sour grapes turn juice into bitter whine

The only reason I changed it to a "How many ounces of of of beer does a half-barrel keg hold" without the question mark was because it was after the fact when Chris REMOVED the question mark for both posts... OK. Plain and simple he didn't follow his own rules. What's not to understand here? He said all words in pink no? Well that didn't seem to be the answer.

Doesn't matter he isn't going to admit he made a mistake anyway. It takes a certain person to admit that.

A little bit.

you'll get over it in a while. it sucks i know, especially since it's no small prize. it's pretty much out of your control, so try not to get too worked up over it.

I never knew people really enter any of those online contests :O
Cant you just buy that ******* phone and get over it? ...

Posted by: juiceppc

I know I sounded like a whiner there and I am over it now. So thanks for not flaming me too bad about it. I don't know why I want that stupid phone. :P

No worries. It's amazing how wound up we get over these little bits of plastic - I've been guilty of it on more than one occasion. In my quest for thumboard perfection, I'm already bored of my Treo750 and waiting for the right deal on a hw6915 so I can have GPS again (but no 3G). Or a maybe a P51 with GPS and QVGA (but no 3G). Is there no end to this madness?

*Ugh*, 3G on the Treo 750 kills me (or rather, it kills my battery life). That's one of the reasons the JAQ3 appeals to me -- EDGE speeds are a nice balance between speed and battery life. Or maybe I just need to figure out how to throttle my Treo back to EDGE.

No positive Jaq3 posts allowed.

Although it is a bit large it looks like you could push those buttons, dpad and keys all day without hardly any contorting of the hand needed at all. It's perfectly placed button nirvana. IMHO. That processor issue though is pretty bad. And honestly didn't one of the reviews say the battery life was surprisingly not that great? Ok I'm back on trashing it now.
