Go Phone Sim in a 680 Questions.

I got an old 680 from a friend that I traded a Razr for.

I called Cingular and tried to activate it as a Go Phone for my Daughter (I'm tired of her racking high bills) and they told me I could not use that phone as a go phone.

I put in a Go Phone sim from another phone in the 680 and it seems to be working fine.

Will Cingular be able to tell that she is using a 680 with this sim and shut the phone down or should I have no problems?

I was just wondering as the IMEI number on the 680 is different then the one from the Go Phone sim?

Thanks.

It really does not matter which phone she is using the sim in. I have a customer that has a go phone account and he uses a treo 650. No problems so far and he has been using it for about a year like that. I don't think that any data will work with the go phone sim in the phone.

Yes, the data is working with the Go Phone sim.
I was just wondering if Cingular would shut it down if they found out she was using a 680 as a go phone?

I don't know what a 680 is but I have been using my go phone sim in a Treo 600 and a Treo 650 for nearly a year and never had a problem. I hang on the prepaid forums and never heard of anyone getting cut-off for using a sim in a different phone. (Even if you did - just get another sim!)
Yes, data (even email) works fine but at $10/meg you don't want to use it very often unless you want to go broke!

So the Go Phone Sim you are using with the 650 is from a different phone and was registered with a different IMEI number then the 650?

Yes. The sim came from a Nokia I purchased for $29 off the Cingular web site. The account really relates to the s/n of the sim. The s/n of the phone is really a secondary issue.
