I have a Treo 750 but was thinking about getting a BJ as a second phone. I can get it for $174 thru my company and then with the rebate it would come to $74.00. Based on user experience with the BJ is it worth it to get the phone at this price?

Unquestionnably!

The check out screen indicated $174 and in the past I have always been able to apply the Cingular rebates. I ordered it earlier today. Thanks for the opinions.

wait a second...so how do you apply the cingular rebates? my rep said she would do it and that's why it's 174...is there a way to print it out and have do another rebate? Are you getting a gov't discount? because i think i might be on the same boat as you...

Historically, people who order their devices through Premier have had success printing out the rebate found on the "consumer" Cingular web site and mailing the requested information to the clearinghouse. Whether or not this is something Premier users should be doing is up for debate, but given Cingular's latest "house cleaning" when it comes to ordering pallet loads of phones from Premier, it is obvious that they have some method of controlling who does what. Given that the rebates arrived, reason dictates that Cingular either meant for this to happen, or isn't too concerned that it does.

That speech aside: HECK YEAH. At $174 the phone is a bargain and is well worth it. At $74, assuming you decide to send in and subsequently receive the rebate, you'd be a knucklehead not to buy it. I've had my Blackjack since Monday and couldn't be more happy. Fair warning: the battery life in a 3G environment lives up to forum posts; I've had mine off the charger for about 24 hours and the "extended life" battery is down to 1 bar. This doesn't concern me too badly since I have the second battery, and I'm almost always near the charger at some point.

As posted in the forums before, The more you drain the battery and recharge it, the better the life of the battery. When I first got it, I would have to switch it out once or twice a day. Now I can go a full day without changing it, with heavy internet / 3G usage.

I'm a premier Gov't customer, and *made* money on the BJ. The rep got my over the phone cost down to $65, then I did the $100 mail-in rebate. My rebate Visa card came last week. So Cingualr actually *PAID* me $35 to get the BJ. Getting paid to get a very expensive cell phone made my day!

I just print out the rebate form on the consumer site and mail it in. I usually get my Visa rebate card 10 weeks later.

I Just hope you don't have numerous BT devices that you want to work with the BJ, it doesn't work with my Nuvi GPS, doesn't work properly with VC for BT initiated voice dial, doesn't work with my Audi's BT system.

All in all it's a decent handset but for what people paid for this when it came out it's a rip off.
