Motorola Q not reading...

I have the driver loaded onto my q. I go into modem and connect through usb on the phone, then my computer reads the phone and is all set. I then go into qpst and see that com6 has is not reading the phone.....the com of the modem is 6 according to the device manager....
why isnt it reading ?
