8525 Battery -- less than 8 hrs even in standby

My battery is lasting less than 8 hours whether or not I am talking or using the internet. Last night when I went to bed, the battery was at 50%. This morning it was dead. I do not have any programs running except the POP3 messaging which checks for messsages every 15 minutes. (I installed the program that makes the "x" button close the program.) Could checking for email really be using that much battery power?? Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions???

(By the way, is there any way to set the messaging program that came with the phone to only checks for mail during certain hours of the day? If not, is there some other program I should be using for email?)

There is an extensive thread over at the Cingular Forums titled "8525 battery getting smaller" which will give you suggestions as to how to improve the battery life.
Basically, this is a Li-Ion battery and needs constant charging - especially overnight. Most posters seem to indicate that they can get through a long work day with some battery life left.
Check out the forums for other ideas.

If I have PUSH enabled with IM+ running chatting regularly with my 3000mAh battery, it will not last 8 hours. Battery life improved with the new ROM though.
