You'll need to connect your sidekick because the key is given out by your imei#.
You can google j2me or java for dummies and learn.. Write a program and your a dev.

In order to add your own apps. You have to get a dev key from DANGER. Ad in order to get that key you need to know how to code in java, not java script.

If you want an open ended phone to install your own ringtones/apps/games the sk is not for you.

so what exactly do you need to know about java? i've taken a few classes on it and know how to program a little. also where do you sign up for the developers key?

http://developer.danger.com
That's where you should start if you really are interested. I was a developer but there was way too many rules & restrictions so I moved on to the Windows Mobile platform.

I wrote a couple of apps for the sk2 but they were never released.

I used to be an active developer when I had my Sk2, but I totally agree with djayrage about the rules and restrictions on there now. While I am still a developer I hardly even bother anymore as there is almost no chance any potential apps would be released. I think its easier to get games released than apps. Dunno why that is really.

That's pretty simple, games bring in more revenue.

True, but I wish they would release more apps or at least work on making it easier to do so. I know many a developer who just gave up after having to jump through the T-Mobile / Danger hoops. I think a Gtalk client would be a nice thing to release as more and more people are using that. Would fit with the SK communication device niche too. Too bad my coding skills are not good enough for that one.

How about no. No one is going to work their butts off coding a program just so you can put ringtones on your phone.

hehe! nice signature!

back on topic: why do WE have to give YOU a program that benefits YOU only with no compensation to US?
