Phone with the best reception on Cingular network

Ok so that is the question. Regardless of brand what phone that Cingular offers has the best reception and Bluetooth?

My situation is this: 8 months ago my wife got a job as a Med rep here in Central PA...so she is on the road 5 days a week and needs her phone to make and confirm appointments and so that Drs can contact her. Also so she could call home or for help. We were on Cingular when she got the job but quickly found that there is little or no coverage in much of her territory so we switched to Verizon and she got a LG VX9800 which has been a fantastic combo. Her company had been reimbursing her $65 a month for her Cell phone use.

Fast forward to this past Friday. She gets an email from corporate (mass email to all employees) and her company has signed a deal with Cingular so that the reps will no longer have to send in their cell phone expenses. Good for the company but very bad for my wife...as I said above we switched away from Cingular because of poor coverage...not to mention we just changed out calling plan so we are on the hook for 23 more months of service and we just both bought nice phones less than 5 months ago.

But anyway in an effort to try and make the best of this situation she will need the phone with the best reception...and bluetooth because her car does bluetooth handsfree.

So what phone are we looking for?

class 2 bluetooth and outstanding reception = Moto RAZR V3xx.....

everything about this phone is great. i have had over 50 phones in the past 7 years, and this one is by far the best all around, period.....

I would say the RAZR series (pick one: V3, V3i, V3r, V3xx, etc.). Still, I am a bit confused by your situation. Are you saying that VZW works best for you, but you are stuck in a contract with Cingular? Or that the company pays for Cingular but you have a contract with VZW? If the latter, she can just forward the calls to the VZW phone.

I owned 72 phones last year (working in the wireless industry) and I have never been more pleased with a phone as I have with the V3xx. So I back up this claim and also recommend the phone.

My vote goes for any phone that you can disable AMR HR.

The current situation is that we are with VZW and have phones that work great.

Her company has signed an agreement with Cingular and they will no longer reimburse her for her cell phone usage...if her company is going to pay for the call it should be on the Cingular phone which they will pay for and supply. Currently to cover the calling that she does out of her VZW network we have the 2100 min plan plus the TXT plan for her with VZW. When we were with Cingular we were going to need the 3000 min plan to cover her out of network calls. So currently her reimbursement goes to paying for the difference between the plan we would have had if she didn't have this job and the plan we need to cover all of her talking to co workers and docs...not to mention family calls during her down time while in the car when she is not talking to co-workers or docs.

She could just forward the calls but the issue there is that we would then have to pay for the VZW plan at the increased rate (bill this month is ~$140) which we would rather not do.

Another addition to this mess is that her company wants her to port her number to Cingular because they want to avoid the confusion of her having to switch phone numbers. Well that is all fine...if they want to pay for her to opt out of our Verizon plan. But since they are not going to do that and since the phone number has been my wife's for several years before she got this job, she doesn't want to port the number.

So she is going to be stuck with 2 phones I believe...her VX-9800 which does everything great and some unknown phone.

So to the RAZR recommendation: how does the reception of the RAZR compare to the SLVR and the Moto V551 (phones we had before the SLVR) both of which didn't get great reception and many more drops than our current phones?

The RAZR series has excellent reception.
One of my family member has a SLVR and the reception is nowhere near as good as my V3xx. I am not very familiar with the V551.

The reception of the V3xx absolutely blows away the V551 (and the SLVR as well based on reviews that i have read). My father has a V551, and its not a bad phone - its just not a great phone by any stretch....

Not to mention that neither one of those phones are 3G phones. When in a 3G area, you will get unbelievably better quality calls. I would even argue that you get somewhat better than avg call quality in EDGE areas with the V3xx. just a well built phone in every way....

Well thanks for all the feedbak.

The main issue with the area in question is that it is very rural...forwhatever reason, be it more towers or whatever the coverage is vastly superior with VZW so we need the best possible reception with a phone from Cingular. Looks like we will be giving the RAZR V3xx a shot.

Thanks again.

I would have to say the V3xx has the best reception for a 3G phone, but my Sony Ericsson W810i is still the RF master.

Wow...that sucks. Does her company realize that the coverage with Cingular (in your area) is inferior to VZW? Anyway, I understand (now) what you're saying.

Well she says she is going to send an email...but I don't think it is going to matter...the comapny was all proud to introduce this new plan to save time and money (reps no longer have to file for reimbursement for their cell phones and I am sure they are getting some deal from Cingular). And it isn't just our area either...one of her co-workers/friends wont get signal in like half her area either...and my wife's boss just bought a Moto Q on the Verizon network...so even he is getting shafted on this deal.

But yea...it sucks.

I have a Motorola V551 which "i thought was cool when I got it because it folded...I have OK coverage her in San Francisco but lately the volume sometimes is really low...If I pull the battery and then put it back it seems to help but I'm just about up with my contract and am considering getting one of those RAZR phones since they are bigger and thinner. It is nice to read that they are also the best in reception. I just use it for ph calls and none of that other jazz except an occasional picture that I figured out how to send to one of my kids.
thanks for the info.

although the V3xx is very good, i find that Blackberries are a lil better signal wise. i have the Pearl and its never let me down
