Premier tax?

I am thinking about getting a 8525 through premier's upgrade pricing:
Base Price
$1029.99
Company Discount
-$617.99
Web Discount
-$2.01
Your Price*
$409.99

We all know the base price is overinflated, as with any premier pricing. But do you actually pay tax on the $1029.99 price? That would jack up the price to near $500!

Anybody ordered one with similar pricing?

the answer to your question is yes you do.

One-Time Charges
Paid by Credit Card
American Express XXXXXXXXXXX1002

Phone
Palm Treo 650 $789.99
Savings -$665.00

Sub-Total (One-Time)
$124.99

but later on I got the bill and I paid tax on the "full" price of the phone

Premier is scam when it comes to phone pricing. I feel for you guys in Cali paying tax on the 'retail price'.

Here's how my pricing breaks down for that phone:

Base Price
$1029.99
Company Discount
-$309.00
Web Discount
-$311.00
Your Price*
$409.99

No kidding.....I am in Texas and I paid tax on the discount price not the base price.

I paid tax on the discounted price, NOT the full retail price. I live in Pennsylvania and ordered through Premier. I believe they charged the tax on my next bill instead of when I purchased the phone.

I paid tax on discounted price as well. And they charged tax on the same bill but upgrade fee on my next bill.

Unless there is state law that requires it or you have a rebate, you should only need to pay tax on discounted price.

The reason why I asked is because I did have to pay tax on the full price when I got the V3xx and all previous phones. But the 8525's retail price seems excessive compared to previous incidences.

Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and bend over...

Sales tax varies state by state, how Cingular gonna charge you depends on your state law. If you paid full on previous phones, you're likely to pay the same on this phone. I think 8525 is over priced even on discounted price. The only major differences between 8525 and 8125 are processor (400Mhz vs 200Mhz) and 3G support. 8125 is only half the price of 8525 when it was first released.

Im in VA and paid tax on the $400 final price only.

In my experience when you are eligible to upgrade phones on your account you might actually get a better deal thru other Cingular channels (like a store) rather than purchase via Premiere. If the better deal is found at the store with rebates, etc then you can always get your service discounts by simply calling the business unit.
