As of 2/11/07, what's the latest solution on disappearing Call Logs?

Is this a unique problem to the Pearl or other models like 8700?

I got my Pearl on 2/8/07 and Call Logs started deleting itself on 2/10/07. My OS is .71. So far, the following have been suggested from users:

1. Remove battery periodically
2. Download latest firmware

Hit Menu>Options>Status

If "File Free:" is lower than 2000000 then delete some stuff.

Man, it's such a hassle to have to check for memory all the time. Does 8700 have this "memory leak" problem too?

All BB's do. That is the way RIM designed it to work. If you don't have available memory it automatically deletes stuff to make room.

If you are frequently running out of memory then save stuff to the memory card rather than internal memory and/or change how long it saves your email for.

That's not quite right. Yes, all BB's will begin deleting data to free up memory in cases where there is none available. However, the memory leak is pretty much unique to the Pearl. I've never had such a problem on any of my BB's (6230, 7230, 7100t, 7290 & 8700c) and I've stored a ton of contacts, appointments, notes, etc on each of them.

Agreed - this is an issue with the Pearl leaking memory. I never had these issues with my 8700R

I found just pulling the battery on my Pearl would free up 2-3MB of memory once the device reset itself.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I'm experiencing this too. It really sucks to have to pull the battery everytime you want to free memory. One thing that helps is to actually close apps after you use them instead of hitting the back button. I've had my pearl for a month and this just started about a week ago.

Anyway my two cents...

What software are you guys running? I had this issue but I upgraded to .69 and it went away.

I'm on .64, tmobile's latest

how do i get .69?

I have this problem too. My messages also self delete and my picture messages have problems going through. I've spent a lot of time on the phone with t mobile and take the battery out is the best answer they had for me.
