after about a year and a half with working @ a COR location, im looking and interviewing at other jobs more and more..

why do i want to leave cingular?

1. horrible manager.
2. TERRIBLE commission! from 75% to 50% to 35% if you dont meet goal.
3. schedule is insane. im a PTRSC and im working this week 7 days in a row; all 5pm-10pm shifts. after speaking to my manager, he doesnt care.
4. i work EVERY WEEKEND; EVERY DAY. cingular doesnt seem to get that i have other things in my life to do. i.e. family events, going out on the weekend, seeing friends, just relaxing. friday thru monday is not fair.
5. i'm a mall store. and being a mall store, my manager thinks part of my job is going to all the stores with flyers and hand them out. or stand in front of the store and hand out flyers to people walking by. im sorry but im a sales consultant; not someone who gets $6 to do human advertising. its degrading and honestly not what i signed up for.

what do i want to get if i leave cingular?

a job that is 9-5 M-F. im tired of this schedule i have now.
a job that the boss is fair and honest; not a retail creep.
a job that is not in retail.

ughh...sorry for the rant. i just am fed up.

Do you work in the city or on Long Island?

I loved working for corporate. We had enough employees to cover all shifts and everyone was full time. The boss was pretty cool and never came out of his office. Everyone got along. If I could go back to CORE I would in an instant. Down here in Tampa we don't have any CORE stores in the malls anymore.... and stores are only open till 8 I believe. Sales were great too. Maybe you should just consider transferring.

transferring doesnt help the insane commission cuts.

Then leave. It's not rocket science.
Or you could try getting your manager to care. You're a saleperson, right?

I hear ya man....after almost 7 years at CORE I'm ready to go part time. I find myself becoming shorter with customers and not enjoying my job as I used to. Cingular always talks about how they respect the "balance of life and work" but that's utter BS. We're just number branded slaves that are disposable. Our store is SO short staffed that I dread walking in cause I know I'll see 15 customers, arms crossed, giving me the evil eye lol.

Just know you're not alone. I'm always the first to say "Don't like it? LEAVE!" and i still stand by that. I just need a break I think

Sounds like you need a new manager and he could fix ALL of that, as far as the flyers go, you do that once you have to proper coverage to drum up your own sales.

I vote transfer...

Its the paycuts that do it. If I knew I would be making the same amount of money nxt year I would take all the BS in the world. And I am in an indirect store :-)

I think you need to quit crying, because if you get paid like EVERY OTHER REP IN THE COMPANY DOES. Then you still make a pretty nice chunk of change. Last time i checked 3000+ a month with hourly and commission is pretty livable. I have lived in both NYC and now California and im an employee of the company. There is no reason you should be complaining like this. There are people who would KILL to get paid for what we do. Hell, to EVEN HAVE A JOB. If you think that it is so miserable to work for the company, try to find a job that will pay you this much without doing HALF the work you do now. You have it pretty easy my friend, you know it as well as i do. If its that bad, try to be transferred or try to re-schedule it. If you pull your weight pretty well, i dont see why your mgr wont work something out.

If it makes you feel any better you get paid better than a lot of Marines who are fighting in Iraq.
You also get to go to a civilian doctor instead of Navy Corpsmen
(just kidding to anyone who has served as a green side corpsman!)

$3k a month as a PTRSC? are you out of your mind?

even as a regular RSC, take home $3k every month isnt factual in this market.

ESPECIALLY with the pay cuts on rate plans and features!

how do you think you make the same $ going from 75% of features to 50% of features? and if you dont hit your attainment, its 35% of features.

I have given my notice. I haven't looked forward to leaving a company as much as I have this one. This was once the best company to work for, and the best industry to be in. Leaving is bittersweet. I'm going to miss the amazing people I work with, but I am also leaving the creeps that walk in the door who make me feel like crap.

We can't blame our managers for everything...After all, they are just putting the pressure on us from thier bosses. The greatest thing about being an RSC is not having all of that back office crap they have to worry about and babysitting lazy reps. I love being in sales, because it's what you make of it. If your SM isn't being supportive in your success as a sales rep than have a chat with him. If you are just here to have a bomb schedule and have your way, then you are not cut out for retail sales by any means. Sink or sail. The choice is ours.
