I currently have a Motorola V3XX which is Tri-band (900/1800/1900) and UMTS 2100. Is there a Seem Edit to enable the 850mhz on GSM (i dont really care for HSDPA)?? Does anyone know if this phone has a quad chip inside which is disabled by software??? Has anyone done this Mod/ knows if its possible???

All of the ones sold here in the US by Cingular are quadband (Cingular used 850). So I'm sure it can be changed just like the other seem edit methods. I'm not sure about if they have changed on the V3xx, but I'm sure the guys using this handset on Cingular could help. You can also try another flex file with it enabled already.

the Cingular V3xx is also tri-band

# Dual-band UMTS/HSDPA - 850/1900 MHz
# Tri-band GSM world phone - 850/1800/1900 MHz

So does anyone know if its possible to SEEM edit it (Eurpoean Ver.) to become quadband? or just enable 850??? Has anyone done it/ know if its possible?

After much digging it seems that Motorola is dropping 850Mhz support on most of its UMTS phones. This may be due to the addition of the 2100Mhz band though it makes the phones troublesome for areas with poor 1900Mhz and 2100Mhz coverage. What concerns me about this is that it would have been much more sensible for them to drop either 900Mhz or 1800Mhz for USA models of the phone thereby allowing them to be "international" phones but fully featured within the USA. As much as it may not be ideal the best upgrade for any of the quad band phones that are getting a bit old is the KRZR K1, otherwise the Nokia N95 and Moto Q9 look to be the only true quad-band + UMTS phones to hit the states anytime soon.

I have a cingy branded v3xx, can I add the 900 with a seem edit? I want to have more roaming ability outside of the country with my cingular phone. I have read that people have found the seem edit to enable the menu option, but I have not heard if anyone has proved the phone's ability to talk on 900...

any luck on this? enable 900 on a cingular branded v3xx?

I enabled 900 using instructions available in this forum.

I haven't tested it yet, but I will when I go to Panama at the end of June/beginning of July.

I am roaming in mexico now, unfortunately both carriers here use 1900. So I can't prove anything.

Exactly.

But I looked here http://allworldcellphones.com/gsm-frequencies-list.htm and it seems that Panama uses 850, so apparently my upcoming trip won't prove anything. Anyone going to one of these countries listed with 900 service anytime soon?

I have used this method to convert over a dozen phones to quad-band:

Different seems, the V3xx is a P2K 05 phone. Believe me, i wish the old "tricks" worked
