From Mobile-Review

Earlier today HTC has announced HTC Advantage (X7500), codenamed Athena - the name we kept stumbling upon for while. The device is running on Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC Edition, but at that sports a huge (we mean that) 5-inch display, a built-in 8 Gb hard drive, a speedy CPU, GPS-module, 3 MPix camera, you name - basically, the X7500 packs it all.

The device comes included with a removable thumbboard that doubles as a shiled for the display - it features a transparent inset, covering up the screen's status bar. HTC VueFLO technology allows using the motion sensor for navigating currently open page..

Specfications

* GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), UMTS/HSDPA (2100 MHz for Europe, 850/1900 MHz for the US)
* 5-inch touch display with VGA resolution (640x480 pixels)
* 3 Mpix auto-focus enabled camera with flash
* VGA-camera
* Detachable QWERTY-keyboard
* GPS-module
* Intel PXA270 624 MHz CPU, ATi W2284 graphics accelerator
* 128 Mb of RAM and 256 Mb of flash-memory
* 8Gb hard drive
* miniSD memory expansion slot
* Bluetooth 2.0, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g)
* HTC ExtUSB, proprietary HTC socket with VGA/TV-out
* 2200 mAh Li-Ion battery
* Talk time (with the display turned off) - up to 5,5 hours (GSM) and 4,5 hours (UMTS)
* Standby time - up to 300 hours
* Dimensions - 133,5x98x16 mm, with keyboard - 20 mm
* Weight - 359 grams

T-Mobile is expected to release the X7500 into the wild in March under the name of T-Mobile Ameo in a number of European counters, while HTC itself will be shipping devices with its own brand etched on the casing.

Hmm. nice toy, but not the ideal form factor to major phone use. Great for all things data (business more then std web surfing otherwise its overkill), but not great for all phones phone. However, with BT, voice dialing, these can be worked around, although short of buying a cheesy watch with BT that shows the caller id info, it will be a pain to pull that out everytime you get a call.

already did! the sony ux280p is a better deal! would u rather get a Ferrari or a Honda if it' selling around the same price? or would u get a Pentium Solo or Pentium Quad-Core if it selling around the same price?

Posted by: jbunch73

well said Veli.

Apples and Oranges if you ask me.

That sony is a hiptop computer not a cell phone/pda ( id love to talk to you about it. I am considering buying one) and as for the other guy I dont know of any phones with xp or vista running so . . . help me out.

It's worth every penny in my humble opinion.

ux280P doesnt make phone calls, whats the battery life, how long does it take to boot/ come out of standby? Even with skype will it wake out of standby for a call? I cant imagine with those specs its performance is very responsive.

The only issue I have with this device is the size.

sony ux280p doesnt make phone call. but HTC 7500 is too BIG to use as a phone anyway. so u going to carry 2 device also (bluetooth headset).
just did it with a timer, took 40sec from Hibernate to useable state, 15sec from sleep/standby mode to useable state, that' not bad! consider u running Windows Vista!
actually the sony is very responsive with 1.2G cpu, 1G ram.
it' also touchscreen, so u can use your stylus too! sometime i thought i playing with ppc instead of Vista. haha

You CAN youll just look dumb. it has a wired headset and you can use BT. so as a phone its viable just large. if I had one id have another phone to use when I went out and swap sims but thats maybe 2 times a month

Those are pretty decent times though

You know why I don't buy Sony laptops? The damn thing has only memory stick slot and cannot take SD cards. Other things are CPU fan, short battery life and lack of new driver downloading. Once MS makes some new changes, your expensive toy is obsolete.

UMPC or WM? You'll always need both. With UMPC, you can do all work such as some professional programs (CAD etc.). You don't turn it on all the time for communication.

With WM, you can leave it on all the time and run communication stuff like Skype, push mail etc. It is very handy to browse WWW instantly.

I'll get both the HTC Advantage and Shift when they are available.
