How to check firmware

hey guys, I just got my first symbian phone yesterday, SE m600i. Im very new to all of this stuff, could someone please tell me how to check whats my firmware on my current phone?
And i tried updating my phone, I followed the instructions, but nothing is updating. anyone know if im doing it correctly.
and to make sure...it says. HOLD C on the update. is that CALL or the letter C.

updating is the letter c. and firmware check is u click more on your main page and then status.

Or you can hold down the hardware key... the @ symbol next to the M2 slot
