If There's Anyone Here That Knows How To Set Up Cingular's 8525 With The MediNet Settings Please Let Me Know. I Just Purchased The Cingular 8525 And Im Looking For The Settings For MediaNet With EDGE. Also, A Step By Step Process On How To Enter The New Settings. Any Help Would Be Really Appreciated. Thanks In Advance.

stat>settings>connections>connections>advanced>selectnetworks... then choose medianet

Your phone is set up for media net already.
It’s actually pretty simple, follows these steps.

Start

Settings

Connections

Advanced tab

Select Networks

Media Net, ok

Then type in "device.home" in your url.

Thanks Very Much. Both Of You Were A Big Help. I Have One Other Question. On All Of My Other Phones, I Always Was Running On EDGE, But For Some Reason Im Running On GPRS. Is There Any Particular Reason Why That Is?

well with the 8525 if your running the older rom it will only display a G or a U the G is both edge and gprs and the U is the 3G... so your getting edge even though it says a G

Oh Ok. Is There A Way To Upgrade My ROM And If So, How? By The Way, I Really Do Appreciate All Of This Information.

The new rom should be officially released anytime now. There is currently a pre-release available on xda-developers. Being a newer user, I would recommend waiting for the official release.

with the new rom, you wont need to change your connection settings everytime you want medianet-- just works out of the box.

Does it just change the default settings from isp to medianet or can you know access medianet through the isp so you do not constantly need to change back and forth?

The proxy for media net is coded into the IE now. For example, I use Slingbox and the old ROM you choose My ISP or MediaNet. Under MediaNet and the proxy on the old ROM my slingbox would not work. Under the new rom since the proxy is in the IE not always the connection, my sling box now works without me changing connections all the time. the bad part is that internet passthrough during activesync is messed up since PIE will not connet through activesync for internet any longer since the proxy is messes up activesysnc. Your files still sync but no PIE. It does pass through internet to other apps like Opera however.

Doesn't the proxy mess with wifi though?

Got it. Do you think the official release could correct that? I am thinking of just going head with the pre-release because I am tired of waiting.
