Welcome to Hofo, but you'll want to read the rules...
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=769342
as well as search...

MPT is a copyright program, so linking you to a working version isn't going to happen here. While available on P2P networks, and some "web sites"... MPT is NOT FREEWARE... to get a legitamate/legal copy, you must buy it. Some links -> http://www.bvrp.com/customers/motor...ng/selector.htm or -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16875982038

Next, MPT doesn't have support for the V3M until version v4.21a, so you need to make use of MPT's live update feature... (either From Start -> Programs -> Motorola Phone Tools -> Live Update... or once installed, Launch it. At the Phone Setup Wizard click Cancel. It will tell you that it wont work properly without a phone configured, do you want to install one now, click NO. When MPT comes up with the generic phone display, use the Menu -> Setup -> Live Update)... you'll probably have to reboot and re-run live update a few times to get to the latest version (currently v4.36c).

If you did not purchase MPT from a legit source, there is a chance it won't live update... There is a HACKED/BOGUS v3.40i floating around on P2P which will NOT update, and does not support the V3C/V3M.

Lastly, since you have Verizon in your profile... you need to be aware that Verizon Limits their phones... by modifying a "bit" in a configuration file (aka SEEM) on the phone... you must edit this bit in the seem (SEEM EDIT) to re-enable this feature on the phone so you can use MPT's MultiMedia Studio features with your Verizon phone... for more details see -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_MPT.htm

As for what is PST? see -> http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/General_Terms

As far as "backing up your phone"?? No you can't make a FULL BACKUP, like you would using ghost on your PC, of a CDMA Phone. you can individually backup pictures, your phone book, ring tones, but that is about it. You need various tools, etc...

Also, remember, you have a CDMA phone, not a GSM phone... you are in the GENERAL MOTO section here which tends to be mostly GSM people... BECAREFUL... as hacking meant for GSM Moto Phones doesn't work on CDMA Moto phones... so you might want to stick in the Verizon/Moto section -> http://www.howardforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=294

Some places to get started...
