Next noobish question: I have a PPC-6700, that sucker is gone as soon as I get my u740. Is there any (free, if at all possible) way I could transfer my contacts and schedule to the u740? Contacts are a requirement, schedule I can manually do since I'm sure Outlook Mobile isn't compatible with Samsung's proprietary calendar (unless it is and I don't know it).

Also, to all who have returned/exchanged the u740, I've seen posts listing its shortcomings. Did you have to have equipment protection or something like that, or were you able to r/e it within Verizon's 30-day trial period? What phone did you end up switching to?

Run Backup Assistant and it will save your contacts. When you get your new phone, do the same thing and it will sync up your contact list.

For your calendar, try BitPim.

The long skinny ones go on the sides and bottom. The longest one goes from the speakerphone button to the mic hole. The shortest on goes on the bottom, and the middle one goes next to the volume up/down. The square-ish ones go on the black hinges.

I've got an Ayn Rand book that's really long (3 CDs of MP3s) and the phone has decided the tracks go in a different order than the author put them in, which makes it really hard to follow the story line! The MP3 filenames are just the track numbers, 01.mp3, 02.mp3 and so on, but on the phone display they all show up as the title of the book. There's no way to differentiate between them, so there's no way even to hunt through to find the one I want. I've deleted and reloaded them, reloaded them with different filenames, and nothing works -- the phone still refuses to see them in the right order, because it somehow recognizes them from the first time they were loaded and persists in using that data instead of refreshing.

Has anyone else run into this? Any ideas for fixing it?

Stereo phones use 4 pin adapters. Left audio, right audio, mic and ground. If you are using a standard 3 pin plug, you can sometimes get them to work because you slide it out of the jack so that the pins kind of connect. Though I would recommend NOT doing this. You are most likely shorting the left and right audio together. Either that or you are shorting the mic to one of the audio channels.

If you want to use 3 pin stereo headphones as opposed to 4 pin stereo headsets, then I suggest getting a 4 pin to 3 pin adapter. Or get the verizon patch cable that is 4 pin to 3 pin with an inline mic.

Use a valid mp3 file. And you can save them as 30 second clips and 64kbps and they should be more than adequate for a ringtone, and smaller than 240k.
But 240k should be fine for a ringtone - if they are over 300k or so, they will most likely get convert on the way to a crappy qcp file.

I think maybe the adapter you bought isn't stereo. From reading other stuff, i think the stereo 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapters have 4 pins or poles. (which incidently, my ringtone problems occured right after I enabled wap... not sure if that is the reason for my problems). Anyway- after resetting the defaults- my ringtone problems went away. (FYI - resetting the defaults does not affect your contacts or any pics and tones you already have on your phone)
