Points off for attendance

OK so i got written up today for reaching 4 total attendance points. Is this something all corporate stores have to deal with. Or is my manager pulling this one out of the woodworks? My father was in the hospital for a serious surgery and I had to be out on said day. I brought the day to my managers attention two weeks prior. Yet I am given a full point against my attendance....

Does this not seem wrong....

Up in MA as well it's usually set up if they want to get rid of you. We have a person here who is late all the time, never hit's numbers and calls out yet she has no points another person has 4 or 5

That sounds like BS to me, I asked the people I know in the cor store here, they have never heard of it, but thier manager is a real stand up guy

CS used to have a policy like this. But you got written up at 5 points, not 4. Are you indirect or COR? If youre COR, are you unionized? If you are, then the point system should have changed.

It's not, we are unionized, and we have 2 guys who have this against them.

Thats odd, because I had asked someone about the attendance policy for a COR store and they were in the union, and he said it didnt change. Its possible he was wrong through.

As for the OP, it sucks...but what can you do? Does your manager let others get away with murder? If he does, go to his boss, explain the situation and see what happens.

Murder isn't the word person came in said "I have a test at 3 I need to leave" then proceded to go to lunch with another rep during the peak time and left me and another person alone. Then the person they wrote up his mom was in the hospital and that's why he wanted to leave early. Sadly the bosses boss is good buddies with our managers so no going through chain of command

wow, callcenter attendence policy > cor store attendence policy

In the cingular call center we have an attendance policy where if you call you, you simply receive a point. However the point is removed 6 months from the date you took it and I think after your fourth you get put on an attendence warning.. It kinda sucks but its defintly something I can understand. A benefit is that we basically got almost 3 weeks worth of the vacation and I haven't even been there a full year.

If you knew you were going to be out on a specific day that far in advance and you knew you had that many points you should of used a vacation day...

I mean truthfully if you didn't have any and you had to be there well hey.. Its your father and its obviouslly more important that a job selling cell phones.. So don't sweat it too much just make sure you aren't out anymore, atleast for a while.

Expect that to change now that at&t (SBC) is running the show.

heres the attendance policy at my call center:

3&5 points is a coaching. 7 is a verbal warning. 9 is a written warning. 11 is a final written warning and 12 points = bye bye time. You can have a point "roll off" if you have perfect attendance for one quarter (3 months.) If the point doesn't roll off in those 3 months, then it goes away either 6 or 12 months from the original point date.

that's our exact policy here. In fact it's labeled the "new" attendence policy as we just started it over the summer.

Posted by: privax

It was originally something like that with all those points at our call center but now its something like 4 points and you're written up and on the 5th or 6th thats it.

It depends on the store. Some Managers will use the point system and some don't. It depends on whether your manager is a good stand up type of person or not.

I know some managers that do use the point system and I also know some that don't saying it is BS.

So did we. People lost some points in the beginning because they tried to match it and there was a huge abuncance of absences.

What is the link to view this policy?

[B]You all must be in the stick up the butt markets. We don't have managers like that in this market. The only time management documents is when they have a lazy-possibly sue-happy-not hitting numbers-employee. I would watch out!
