Verizon Razor Both CDMA and GSM?

We were talking about phones for overseas at work. You know, getting an unlocked GSM phone and buying a pre-paid sim to use in Italy. One guy who has Verizon said his phone, the new razor, can do both cdma and gsm. I didnt know that phones were capable of using both technologies. He said his phone had a sim slot but it was empty. He didnt have time to show me so I just assumed he didnt know what he was talking about and i just left it alone. Is this true? Are there phones that can work (when unlocked) on both systems? If so, how would it work? Once the phone is unlocked can you have a gsm sim in and switch back and forth between the 2 services? I know they wouldnt work at the same time.Thanks.

No the RAZR is not both CDMA and GSM. There is no SIM slot. He probably thought the micro SD slot was a SIM slot since it's under the battery.

Where I work, there is also a Verizon store and i have heard this frequently from customers that stopped there too. (I sell phones). Can their employees be that poorly trained, or is there something more sinister at work? Hmmm

Well some store reps are poorly trained. There are numerous threads dealing with store reps giving out wrong info. Verizon does have a couple of global phones that support both CDMA and GSM in other countries, but the RAZR is not one of them.

That is most likely it. Had i had the oportunity to look at the slot myself I might have been able to determine what the slot was for, Thanks.
