Stolen Pearl... :( . . .QUESTIONS!!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

so i got my pearl stolen today. Its locked to rogers. can the person use it or will it be tracked? is there anyother way of tracking it?

Posted by: BlackBerryFinch

Probably not, call Robbers and request the PIN/IMEI be marked as stolen. If your on BES have a "kill policy" pushed to the device to wipe your info. If your using BIS someone will find out sooner then later that you need to de-activate you BIS account before the unit can be activated. May want to have Robbers suspend you line so calls are made.

so if someone unlocks it...and puts in thier sim card just to use it as a cell phone...or if they even put thier rogers card in..no way of me finding out or rogers finding out who stole it?

Posted by: mike5411

Nope you're SOL

Posted by: Mr.v500

r u ppl sure?? i was told if they put thier sim card in..rogers can see the sim card does not match the Serial number..and give the person a call or something telling them to return it cuz its stolen

anyone .need more help

Posted by: editmagazine

sorry man , you'll have to find another oyster... wait for the newer bb's to launch on bell.. and then port your number...

is it just me but I think Mr.v500 is the one with the stolen BB. Your questions are more geared towards the fear of getting caught for putting your SIM card into a stolen/found BB.

Yea it does sound alittle weird, what is needed to be done has already been stated.

I say always password protect your BB. Being on BES is a plus as the admin has the remote kill capability (though I'm not sure if any of the hosted BES servicies will do this for you).

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6636/1558; en; U; ssr))

Of course they can find out what sim is in the device that was stolen from whomever. Of course they can call the theif. What makes you think

1)he/she/you will answer
And

2)the phone company telling said person to return the phone will do any good?

Posted by: milan187

if you are not using bb data the company cannot tell which handset you are using. They communicate with the SIM and thats it.

Hang out long enough and some scum will come along with your Pearl that he "found" and want it "unlocked".

Sorry for your loss bro.

Posted by: Mr.v500

ya..im prob. gonna hang out for a while..unless the person is on rogers..then i screwed

Posted by: capljina8

im not sure if this is possiable in can. but ive heard that on a locked phone when it gets stolen or etc you can have the company forward any call made to a number of your choice ie your home # and then try to get some info from the person without saying why u steal my phone etc etc
