High-pitch interference with two TMobile V3 and one V3t

3 months ago I got a V3 (silver) phone, as I was disappointed w/my Nokia. Upon leaving the store and trying it out I noticed a high-pitched tone (background noise/interference) coming from the speaker and I returned it the same day.

The second phone I tried in the store, and the same background noise was clearly there. The noise was very noticeable to me and the rep, and I ended up leaving w/a Samsung T509-S.

After being disappointed my Samsung phone I ordered a Razor V3t, and it's a great phone. However, that same background noise creeps up, and I don't know what the cause of it is?

If anyone else knows what I'm talking about please let me know. I don't want to return this phone and revert back to the Samsung - the memory slot is a big reason why. BTW, the sound is evident on the BT as well.

Thanks.

The title of my post might appear like I was complaining about interference between phones - my bad, that's not what I meant.

Simply, that all 3 phones I've had (all RAZR's) have this high-pitched sound that comes and goes. Is a lot less noticeable if volume is kept below 5; however, that's not always practical.

Hope to hear if others have experienced this noise, and what can remedy the issue?

Thanks.

This is normal due to the inherent properties of the elctro-luminescent back lights used.

I can give you more details later if interested, but this has been well documented by Motorola.

send me the link on the documentation. I find that it's noticeable on an expensive Plantronics BT, but not when using that BT on my Samsung T-509S; in-fact, using my BT w/my Samsung phone was imperative, as the call quality was significantly increased.(Clarity, volume were both dramatically increased)

Thanks for answering my inquiry. I look forward to the link.

There is no link to this information. As a service center we get technical bulletins like the auto dealers do. As such, I cannot provide you with a copy of the bulletin.

This is normally heard when phone is held near the ear before making a call. When a call is active the software in the phone changes the frequency of the tone to one at or below the low end of the normal audible range (People with sensitive hearing may still be able to hear the tone - I do).

The second concern - a hum that can be heard when the keypad is held close to the ear (Much closer then when in normal calling position). For keypad hum listen to keypad when backlights are active and wait until backlights time out. Hum should follow action of backlights (hearing the hum when the back lights are on, not when off).

This probably can be made worse by BT headsets as they have their own radio transmitters that can cause additional interference.

Also, this issue is much worse on the poorer quality overseas (imported, unlocked versions and on those unlocked via testpoint when the shields are cut or not properly reinstalled).

I appreciate your advise/information. I do have sensitive hearing on really high notes.

Your explanation of the DSS switching to signals that are the lowest on the phone's range, and highest to the human ears makes the most sense here.( worse to people like myself that can hear high-pitched noise. I can always tell if there's a tv on in my place, where there's no signal to the TV.)

It has its good and bad repercussions:

Good: able to locate $juice$ being used via a tv w/no signal - electric prices are ridiculous here in north TX.
Cons: situations such as this. I'll just have to get used to the noise.

Seems like, for people like myself, customers should be able to download firmware that prevents the lowest signals from use.

I agree that there should be a better way to shield the keys. I have so tuned it out through constant use.

I hear a buzzing sound/ high pitched sound from the keypad area of my v3t as well.
This occurs when the keypad lights are on, and goes away when they are off.
Is this normal? And if so, does it affect battery life etc?
Thanks so much* This forum rocks.

It has little or no affect on battery life.
