Hey Guys I might be getting a sidekick 2 I have a Couple of Questions

1. Does It Have a MP3 Player
2. What kinds of stuff can you transfer to yuor comp wit the usb cable
3. Is the Camera Good? And Does It Have Video ?
4, Is the Ringtones Clear?

No mp3.

No video.

Crap camera.

Ringtones sound good, but doesn't support mp3 files.

Dude, hiptops/sidekicks are not meant to be phones for "fun" stuff and a zillion ringtones, etc. They are always-on internet devices for data and email and messaging services. If you're the type who likes RAZR type phones and care about useless things like faceplates and wallpapers and the latest tones, then I suggest you stay away from SK's. In the U.S. on Tmobile you cannot use your own ringtones and you must download whatever they offer through the Sidekick catalog ONLY.

Oh, and the USB cable is only for hiptop developers.

is it possible to install new themes on the sidekick 2 b/c i saw a topic about it on the sidekick 3 if so how do you do it ?

not on the sk2, only on the sk3.

Is it possible to go to like any site that has music and listen to the music on there ? and i got the sidekick off a trade with my iPod

Nope you cant stream music. Theres sidekicktones, which is a site that emails songs to you. But the quality is crappy and it lags. The sidekick is horrible for a multimedia phone.

You can not hack it. Do anything to it in the term "hack" No you can not add your own ringtones. YOu must buy them. Same with games and programs.

yea, donniesd is right. You cant hack the sk2 OR the sk3, so keep that in mind if you get a sk3 lol. Wat else, even though the sk3 has a music players, you cant use the mp3's as ringtones. Its impossible, dont even ask people, they get prissy about that stuff. You can go to www.hiptop.com/forums and join there if you want. As you can guess, its like a howard forums just for the sidekick. So if you need help, your best bet is to go over there. I WARN YOU THOUGH, some of the people over there can be real A$$es sometimes.

can you buy ringtones from tmobile prepaid tzones and what kind off applications can you install on the sidekick 2 can you give me some examples

nope. You can only buy ringtones from the catalog. And they raised each ringtone to like $1.99. The application selection is pretty whack. Some are useful but most arent. They have like weight watcher, messege reminders, financial management, stuff like that. The applications range from 2.99 to 5.99. Personally, i think their a waste of money, but you may like that. Oh yea, the ringtones you purchase for the sk are only like 15 seconds. So thats a real jip.

oh my god, dang the sidekick seems to be worst everytime i ask a question is there a link to the catalog ? and when some one sends you a picture message it will go to the phone right or will they have to send it to a email address

yea, the sidekick is a very closed device. Very good for messaging and what not but not very customizable. But no, theres no link to the catalog sorry, you can only access it via sidekick. When someone send you a picture message, you'll get a text from tmobile saying you have to go to a certain website to view it. But yea, thats for a MMS (picture message). If someone send you a email with a picture you can view it directly from the sidekick. But let me answer your next question, no you cant save the picture they send you over email. You can save it only if you buy the picture saving app (i forgot wat it was called, $2.99) or the art palette app (5.99). And no, tmobile doesnt allow you to send picture messages from the sidekick. I know it sucks.

I guess Im going to have to buy the picture saving application, and how do you pay from the catalog does it take money out o your tmo prepaid account or do u need a credit card ?

well if your on contract then it will charge you and you will see it on your monthly bill. If you were on prepaid like me then it will deduct it from your prepaid account. As you know, you can refill your prepaid account by buying cards at CVS, walmart, etc etc.

It sounds like everything you want. You might want to look at a MDA. i have up my SK3 for it. No plans on looking back unless danger gets there butt in gear.

1. Can You Stay On AIM all day ? Even If your not using it and your on the Main Menu
2. I have a netzero email address can i use that on the sidekick ?

1. Yes, unless danger has server problems(Normal)
2. Yes if they allow the use of pop3 or IMAP.

As of late my SK3 connection to AIM has been more reliable than my LAN connection (some strange errors with AIM6).

And no danger server errors are not common. Small errors occur 1 a month or so and larger ones maybe once every 6months - 1year. They used to happy much more frequently.

Its been about the same for my Blackberry connections. And forget about reliable free IMs on the BBs. The paid programs work well, but no free ones work that great for all the time on reliability.

One more question, I want to buy some accesories fo rthe sidekick can you guys recommend me some sites please i did a good search and the bumbers usually are like 17 bucks so please if you know a good site where to get sidekick accs. post it
