K1m not recognized in MPT 4.36

Hi all- apologies if I'm posting in the wrong area - there are a lot of K1m discussions out there. Searched for the answer and didn't find it so I hope someone can help.

New Verizon K1m, seem edits per Mark Venture's page:
6a Bit 0 for USB file transfer
75 bit 4 apply as ring tone option
pre-edited seem for 2827 to change phone ID string

Have updated MPT to 4.36 without problem but when I connect the phone, MPT tells me that it can't recognize it, would I like to update the phone list? I attempt to update but, of course, I already have the most up to date version so I'm out of luck.

I can easily undo the first 2 seem edits but I'm not sure about the 3rd - are any of these the likely culprit? I know the first one is required to get MPT to transfer files via USB but I could do without the other 2 if I could work around some other way. I saved the original 041a_0001 seem but I don't know if writing that back to the phone will affect the 2827 at all (or solve my connection problem).

I have a v710 that I edited back in the day but I haven't done much of anything to it since I first got it. I'm not a total noob but I haven't had much experience troubleshooting problems once I get off-script. Everything appeared to be going fine until I couldn't get the phone recognized in MPT. I installed the 6.20 moto drivers, I've powered the phone off/on, restarted the computer. I'm using XP pro SP2.

Any idea what I might have missed or screwed up to not get MPT to recognize the phone?

TIA...

Got something of an answer - I uninstalled the 6.20 drivers and re-connected the phone. XP re-installed the phone and now MPT recognizes the phone. Problem solved...

Hi. I just got a K1 and have been having the same problem with MPT 4.3 rocognizing my phone. Can you please explain your solution with a bit more detail? I have the latest version and when I connect my phone using MPT, it reads - Initializing....Please wait.... It does not connect the phone. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!

for me, at least, uninstalling the updated motorola drivers is what got everything rolling again. When I went to view/edit seems (with the updated drivers) I couldn't see the phone. When I uninstalled the drivers (in device manager, my moto modem drivers had a question mark beside them, I simply uninstalled the driver) I was able to see the phone to edit in pK seem and in MPT. Adding the menu changes to MPT got the MMS working and I was then good to go...

MPT is no good for ringtones on the K1 0 there's a good tutorial for using pk commander at http://howardforums.com/showthread....ethod+ringtones

Where do you get MPT 4.36? When I install MPT 4.0 and it updates itself, only to 4.03, and does not recognize my phone, and there doesn't seem to be a 4.36 on Moto web site. I am reading and learning and new to this, have a KRZR k1m from Vzon and not too happy about not having access to all these features. Sounds like I'll have to get and learn how to use Pk2 commander also,. thanks.

MPT will auto-update if you just give it enough opportunities to do so. Use the auto-update tool included with it, restart, re-update & restart until you get to 4.3.6 (I believe that's the most recent version). That'll recognize your KRZR.

MPT is only really good for contacts and pictures with the KRZR, P2k will set you up with ringtone transfers.

Damn......

Thank you..

Ive been f#$ing with this phone for ever trying to get it to work with mpt.

I went to the device manager, deleted the motorola modem. Opened up MPT 4.3.6c and it found it right away.

THANKS for that reply. I never would have guessed that multiple live updates are needed to get to the most recent, which indeed recognized the K1m

041A seem? on a K1M?? Really?? I thought it was 2742...

041A was for V710, V265... E815, V3C, V3M all use 2742 and don't have a 041Aseem.. then again, the V325, apparently has a mirro 2742 to 041A so anything is possible...

No, the 2827 string is NOT related to the 2742 or 041A seem. They can be written/edited indipendantly...

i previously had an e815 and my wife has a v3m and i was successful on both of these phones. i just cannot get the k1m to work. has anyone been successful?? and if so how????

although the Multimedia feature on the Motorola Phone tool has been turned on after you mod seem edit to make it K1mm, but you may find out you cannot write any ringtone or image files to the ringtone share folder because of the default attribute is read-only.

Hence it will appear to you as just a dummy tool.

To write ringtone or images to your K1m phone, you would need to:

1. run Motorola Software Update at the background to connect to your phone
2. run P2KCommander (3.2.2 works fine for me)
3. then access to the share audio or ringtone folder by click on the P2K Mobile Phone to navigate the ringtone folder.
4. delete any MyTonedb.db file you find. This file will be regenerated when you power cycle the phone.
5. you can then start copy or transfer file from your PC to phone now.
6. Change permission to 0005 by click on the Attributes
7. Power cycle the phone to generate the new MyToneDb.db

Hey joehsu

can you do any of this in your last post with out having to seem edit the phone, or do you need to seem edit it to make this method work.

My last phone got screwed up when I seem hacked it for use with MPT and I would like to not have to hack my new k1m
