Krzr K1M Java?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey I have a Telus K1M and no one on the Telus forum knows how to get free java games from the pc to the phones. We tried the same procedure we used for the v710 but its not working onece we try to play the game it gives us a java.lang.class error or something like that. The phone uses a new folder to store the games unlike the v710 and we found the folder but games just arent working. Can anyone with exoerience with java or phones help us?

I assume this has something to do with Telus locking out the ability to play games that are not theirs. Why buy a $500 phone (after tax) and have complete access to it. They have to lock out features so they can make even more money from their customers.

Telus isnt that bad we have obex. mpt transfer ability, and alot of stuff at least we don't have a crapy UI on the phone i dont think the issue is that Telus locked it telus has their new menu called Spark you proboly have seen it since u have the phone. But the spark menu is formated differently then the Do More menu was if we still had Do more we could have had games by now. I was wonderin if n e one with verizon, sprint, altel etc could help figer this one out because the people in the telus forums need help. and lol in the first post i meant expeirence theres probally some spelling mistakes my laptops keyboard is really messed up.

What happens when you try and install a java game from the browser?
Not sure where some games are, but this test page I made is still up (I was using this back when they first started flashing the Verizon V710's with the Telus firmware):
http://wap.thephonecam.com/games/

I havent tried puttig them on via the web browser i downloaded this xm-satlelite radio programfrom telus but thats all. I tried putting the games in the (a/brew/mod/jbed/installed) directory then when i go into the java game menu and select the game i get this exact message "The application could not be initiallized: java.lang.ClassNotFoundExceotion"

Why don't you try putting them on from the web browser? If it works, then at least you'll have a way to put games and apps on the phone.

I would but Telus charges rediculas rates for downloads and to use the webbrowser off the Telus webbrowser they even charge for the downloading of sounds from mms messages thats one of the things i hate about telus

try downloading a game from their server and see how and where it installs. Then just put your apps in similar to how telus did.

i'm gunna try sending the game from the telus website just to c where it goes we have no more people that can do wut they used to just like on the v710 and the previous models wow that k1m fire looks amazing

Hey, did you guys ever get this working?
If not, try placing the jad and jar file into /motorola/shared/jas/temp/install/ and restarting the phone.

Hi there, I just tried placing a app in the folder you stated...and restarted the phone.... ?How do i get it to work? I have A krzr km1 from sprint.... Where do i look for it on the phone
? thanks,SR97

does this also happens on the telus v3?

Posted by: hachu

Hmm, I'm not sure since I haven't done it before, but did anything appear in the menus around where the included games or apps were?

There's probably some sort of menu with a list of things including stuff like Telenav or something?

Well, when i got the phone i deleted those programs off of the phone, before i relized they could have led me to the folder that they were in, using bitpim.... ? any other ideas ?......Thanks, SR97

Hmm, my next idea involves editing the jad file before you do this.

Add: "Content-Folder: Games" as a line to the jad file before you try copying it to your phone again. You should have a folder called games somewhere, right? It ought to end up there.

From what I remember, the Telus v3c, the Telus v710, and Bell/Telus e815s use one java package. Starting from the Sprint v3m, there appears to be a new java system that ought to appear in the k1ms as well (that's what I see from the L7c_K1m_V3m_preloads_only_ver_37.shx).

I figured how to get games to load on a Telus KRZR K1m s/w Ver. 2401_03.13.00

You will need the .jar and a .jad file of the game.
get http://www.geocities.com/mangokun/jadmaker/JADMaker.zip to make the .jad file.

Now after you make the .jad file, edit it in notepad.
At the very end or were ever you will find a line like or similar to this.

"Nokia-MIDlet-Category: Game"

Be sure to remove that line and add:

"Folder: Games" in its place.

Now use bitpim and select view file system
place the .jad and .jar files into /brew/mod/jbed/preinstall

Now go to your SPARK icon and select My Games/Apps and it should install your games.

NOTE: If you have mspot.jar,mspot.jad and telus_im.jar,telus_im.jad in the preinstall folder, edit the .jad files and look for "MIDlet-Jar-RSA-SHA1" line. Delete this entire line. Save and send them back to the phone, that will remove the errors and install IM and Mobile Radio. To make the games removeable go to /brew/mod/jbed/installed and edit "selector.utf" and search/replace all instances of "preinstalled=y" with "preinstalled=n" send "selector.utf" to phone. Games should then have the "remove" option.
