Downgrading Pearl OS...Need help.

I upgraded to the newer OS and decided I cannot deal with the auto-dimming. I downloaded the old 4.2.0.42 software and installed, and there is still no option to turn the auto-dim off. What am I doing wrong?

So it turns out the downgrade didn't actually work. Can someone please explain exactly how to do this? I searched and followed steps like you would normally do for an upgrade and it's still not working....
