Hi all...I just got this program to try and move ringtones from my PC to my phone but I can't figure this out at all. I use the help section and it tells me to use Multimedia Studio, but there is no place in there to select transfer files. I'm using version 4.2.1a...do I need to update the software??

Please help!!

Thanks

Since you have a Verizon phone... with the phone in its default state.. MPT will NOT show you the MultiMedia Studio option.

For more info see -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_MPT.htm

So it seems from that page that a SEEM edit is necessary to use this. I've seen a lot of warnings that this would void the warranty...if I follow the instructions step-by-step should I not run into any problems? I don't want to ruin my phone as I just got it.

I'm kind of new to this stuff so I'm a little worried about hacking into it.

Technically hacking your phone in anyway voids your warranty... HOWEVER the seem edits to make MPT work with Verizon phones is something the stores can not detect...

If you follow the guides step by step, its realatively quick and painless...

The hardest parts are

1. acquiring and installing the software, and drivers...

2. paying attention to detail, and READING EVERY WORD... For example... Even though the guide at -> http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V710_SeemEdit.htm says the illustrations and walk thru were done using a V710 which uses 041A seem... and for the E815/V3C/V3M it would be 2742 seem... people STILL MISS THAT, along with the RED text which warns "Please be sure to use the appropriate values for the Phone and Seem Edit you wish to make!!"... and still try and follow only the pictures, and edit the 041A seem on the E815/V3C/V3M then wonder why it doesn't work.

3. There are TWO edits... 2742 seem, offset 6A, bit 0... which controls the feature on the phone itself, and 2827 seem which controls how the phone is detected by MPT, so you don't have to manually configure to get the MultiMedia Studio icon to show.... MANY often do only the 2827 seem edit, get the MMS Icon, and wonder why it isn't working.

4. Get a firmware upgrade, and you'll likely have to re-do your seem edits... Get a new phone.. and you'll definately have to re-do your seem edits.

The verizon store will not be able to detect that the SEEM has been edited but the repair center will be able to. The reason it doesn't work with MPT is that Verizon has turned off such things like mutimedia and other parts of MPT. I run into this all day........I work for motorola....even editing the SEEM may not work fully for you.
