KX2 Fails Drop Test

Experimental evidence clearly demonstrates that a Kyocera KX-2 "Koi" cell phone does *not* pass a 180+ foot drop test.

Test laboratory: Disney's California Adventure
Test equipment: Maliboomer
Test configuration:


Test procedure: Place the cell phone to be tested in a convenient carrier open at the top, such as a shirt pocket. Board a Maliboomer car. At the peak of the Maliboomer launch, at a reported -1g, allow the cell phone to come out of its carrier and free fall to the target area. Recover the cell phone and examine.

(Note: This is not a flip-style cell phone; normally one half rotates relative to the other as shown in the pre-test photo.)

An operational test indicates that the device is non-functional after the test.

Detailed examination reveals a disconnected connector:


As soon as it is determined where and how to reconnect the connector the operational test will be repeated.
