P800 Vs. T610

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Well basically i just want some insight before purchasing at the time the T610 comes out. my predicament is that the p800 touch screen might wear out as im a heavy user of my mobile phone. I need something to help me organize and jot feature and such are really helpful, But the T610 seems to have a lot of the same features and excels in certain areas such as the polyphonic rigntones.

Is the camera better on the P800?
Is 2MB realy enough for pictures?
Expandable memory is also an issue for me...
Would i be able to use some of the ringtones on the T610?
Can i compose on the t610 and send to a p800 etc...

Opinions please. or you can get to bashing me if you find this stupid, your call but all help wanted.

Btw, i love the mineral grey

Note: im not saying p800 and t610 are same category or are aimed at the same type of people, but the touchscreen bothers me a bit. I just want opinions on the features they both have and the questons above. thank you

Get a screen protector. That will solve many of your worries.

Expandable memory? Just get more sticks of memory.

Camera? not sure cause the T610/616 has not been released yet.

2MB for pics? Just keep uploading to your computer/laptop

ringtones? I'm sure that is possible.

I would say be patient and wait for the T610 to come out. Personally I think the P800 is a winner for being an all in one and is very innovative.

P800 is a beast Extremely expandable and definitely worth the money. The T610/616 is slated for around 700 USD when released...for that much you could get a P800 which offers a Symbian O/S, mp3 player, video player, phone functions, etc etc...it's a lot more that you will be getting.

if you need to jot and use an organizer at least 50% of the time, then P800 it is. Once you start using the functions...it becomes pretty intuitive, with the P you have your phone,PDA and and browser/email assuming you subscribe to Wap or GPRS (you should with this tool).

so essentially what's on your desk...PC, PHONE Rolodex pen and paper...is now in your hands.

Battery life maybe your only concern...remember, i just got mine from a full charge overnight, i have had about 3hrs of calls...on and off the PDA exploring functions, limited use of the cam...no MP3s or video viewer or surfing...(haven't subscribed to GPRS yet and i would recommend unlimited...$50/mth for me) and my battery shows 50% remaining.

So if i were surfing the net...battery may have depleted much quicker. If your usage is close to what i just described then....you should be fine. I'm not sure if a bigger battery is available..i'll be looking into that. I think with the present battery you can get a full 8hr day with some power to spare.

Sorry if my report is not to constructed...i'm just writing as it comes to me.

hope this helps a little in your decision and good luck on whichever you choose.

The P800 is a definate winner. I traded one for a 3650 and some cash and kicked myself when it was gone. The ease of use, tons of features, expandability, tons of forums, free downloads, quality ppl who own them and most of all the Opera browser through GPRS instead of wap. I probably could go on and on but i think you get the point.

The T610 and the P800 are not direct comparisons. The T610 is the Sony Ericsson answer to the Nokia 7250. The P800 on the other hand is a full smartphone. If you want a phone that can hadle MMS and photos then the T610 is perfect. If you want multimedia and the works, the P800 is the best. The P800 is definitely more bang for your buck. It could use some tweaking such as the feel of the entire device but overall, it is the all-in-one solution that most business people are looking for.

looks like im leaning more to the P800

Ill wait till April and UIQ 2.1 i think before i really decide then. thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming :P

P800 pic quality is higher (2x at least if I remember). Likely because it has more space to store the pics. The T610 creates Polytones (mid) so yes, you can transfer them to a P800. 2mb isn't much memory, but it may be possible to delete existing themes, pictures and free up more space. I am going to get a T610 to replace my T68i.. but keep my P800 for what it does best.

a p800 most definetly, are you crazy? p800 or t610, you shouldn't even have to think on that one, the p800 is a powerful phone, where as the t610 is just a phone with nothing... you want power get the p800... the t610 isn't even on the same level as the p800... the t610 can compare to a t68i, but not the almighty p800...

i guess the only real factor that would stop me from getting a p800 is durability. the touch screen still bothers me, never had a phone with it.

I've handled a T610 at my local IT show (BTW, I live in Singapore)
I must say I'm real disapointed with its camera as it's real slow in reflecting the image on it's LCD. What I mean is when I pan the camera around, the image shown on the LCD is in real SLOW MOTION

everything wears out...even my GF ...and can be replaced (yes, my GF too)...you can also get screen protectors now, Waddie has some.If this is for business,it's well worth the investment and screen wear along with other things should be considered as cost of doing business. Durability is on par with the PDA screens.

Once you get the P800 you'll wonder why you even pondered the decision to begin with... it's that good!

As far as taking care of the screen, get the Brando screen protector. It does take away some transparency (a little milky to see through) but the protection is well worth it. I also like how precise its fit is… an excellent product.

Hey Rip, I just noticed your phone selection is Can - Can. You should list your provider as "Airless String"
