Pearl: trackball color???

My colleague was able to change the color of her trackball (the light that is lit during standard operation) to purple instead of white somehow. She can't remember where the setting was at all and I swear I've looked absolutely everywhere.

Does anyone know where this option might be hidden?

On the home screen push the green talk button to goto call history. Push the menu button. Options. General options. Under Ringtone lighting change to trackball

I'm already familiar with that option. I'm talking about the backlight color for the trackball whenever it's lit. My colleague has her's lit permanently to purple. Does anyone know where that option is?

just because youre not familiar with the option doesnt mean that the option doesnt exist. dont be so over confident. as my original post CLEARLY stated, my colleague has the option set so that her trackball is permanently lit purple

Have you seen it in person? Just curious because I don't know of this option but if its possible with some kinds of third party software I would love to know.

This colleague of mine couldn't hack a fisher's price toy much less a cell phone

I'm guessing it's yet another option that they removed after they updated to the 4.2.0.64 s/w.

It's okay anyways. I've had it with this piece of crap and RIM in general. I STILL lose my text and call logs and no one has a work around for it (other than logging my calls in my messages section... no thank you) I've got a Dash on the way. Between RIM either ignoring my e mails, or just responding with a downright uncalled for attitude (no attitude has been given to them, it's incredulous that they'd treat a CUSTOMER that way much less a sales rep that's directly responsible for selling their product) and this issue that has yet to be, (and is somewhat doubtfull to be ever) resolved... I'm sticking with and selling HTCs instead of blackberry when I can manage it now.

Yeah I'm a sales rep and my colleague who also has a pearl managed it. Hers is lit purple. She's the only one of us w/ the older version of software still, so I'm supposing that it's an option particular to the old s/w version (just like how on the old s/w you can turn OFF the auto dimming function and you can't on the new version at all). I'll take a picture of it next time we're at the store at the same time (I've got the next 2 days off but might be dropping in while she's there tomorrow).

What your talking about with the trackball is the european version of the pearl, it has that option, me and a co-worker were trying to change it as well, when a customer came up with a pearl lit blue. Its only on the euro version.

Yeah. At this point Im almost positive that it's something inherent to the FIRST version of software that they thus removed when updating it. Just like they removed the option to turn OFF the power save function of the backlight. Again, this colleague of mine bought it through our employee department, and is not savvy enough to modify it beyond factory settings.

Ah, someone beat me to it...I hate the idea of paying for it too, but it's pretty cheap....it still looks good white to me, but mine is still in great condition

Have you bothered to search for Pearl Memory Leak? I don't even own one and know about that issue.

Metsfan's Trackball Color App (Pearl Only)

sounds weird but before I installed this my trackball was white only. I just installed so I didn't specify a color yet, but now the trackball glows white with green/blue/purple hues mixed in. Just like a pearl effect! Certain angles give it a different glow. Maybe everyone already knew that except me but I didn't read it anywhere and it's pretty cool!

All you need to do is download this program and unzip it to your computer. You then just use Blackberry Desktop manager to add it to your blackberry device. After it is installed go to your options and under ColorPearl. This app will allow you to pick from 7 different colors, random or custom. It also allows you to create your own color by putting in a custom Color HTML code. Pretty sweet, especially for a free app. As I said this should work with Blackberry Pearls and Curves.

this ONLY works for the 8100 as the other trackball berrys (curves and pearl2's) do not have the different colour lights under the trackball. The other ones just have a white light underneath

what people have been doing have been using a sharpie to colour the trackball, putting a coloured clear tape over the white light or painting the trackball.....keep in mind that you need to take the ball OUT of the berry before doing these
