So after a firmware upgrade to my Razr my bluetooth head set does not connect to my phone.
Did the upgrade erase the conection? Its still listed in the phone
Should I delete the partnership and re-do it??

Just delete and redo doesn't take a minute. Firmware upgrade shouldn't have messed it up. But if the firmware had anything related to bluetooth it might have.
