scared to flash KRZR HELP!!

hey how's it goin? i'm new to all this stuff. After over 2 years of loyal service my LGVX7000's mic stopped working a few days ago and i replaced it w/ the KRZR K1m from verizon. Now i'm not the kind of person that really cares that my phone can play music, but i am upset that i can't use my own recorded sounds as ringtones anymore (the LGVX7000 could).

so when i got my phone they asked if i wanted the memory card to go along with it and i reasoned "ok i'll get the memory card and add my own ringtones that way.." uh uh. as far as i can tell you can't move files from the memory card to the phone. which MEANS that i can only use **** from Vcast?! (just a little bit deeper VZ i don't quite feel you in me yet..)

so to my question. I've researched and found that i can flash the VZ software with the Altell software and then be able to transfer files to and from the phone using a USB cable and my computer. This is all fine and dandy but i can't seem to find an answer to my most important question.

If i take the steps to flash my phone will i still be able to use my phone in VZ's network? I'm still w/in the 15 day period where i can return my phone for another one so fast help is VERY appriciated.

Keep in mind i'm not asking HOW to flash the phone, just what the ramifications to flashing the phone are.

omigoodness that totally worked. now all i have to figure out is how to make custom sounds and get them into .mp3 format.
