Sorry to be a pest.
I upgraded to the V3xx on my wife's number (she had an upgrade) I have NOT registered the phone, and called CS to see if I could register it with MY number. They said I would have to have a new SIM card from a store.
Problem is, I just did that at Christmas! I upgraded on one line, then called and had them activate on another line. What gives? Should I call back and try again?
Thanks for all of your help!

If you are trying to use the phone on your number and not your wifes, just pop in your sim card and go. Nothing more to do.

I have, but the SIM card from my old phone is not 3G. The new one is. I don't think I live in a 3G area, but I may travel to one.
Does the SIM have to have the 3G logo for it to work?

The 3g sim cards are just newer and pretty much the same as non 3g sim cards in terms of making and receiving calls and working in a non 3g device. It will do no harm it using a 3g sim in a non 3g phone but a 3g sim is needed to use the service on the 3g network using a 3g phone.

Update: The first guy I spoke to in CS said that I would have to go to a Cingular store and get a new SIM card. Then he gave me a $25.00 credit on my bill to cover the cost of the SIM card. I called back about 2 hours later, and another CS rep was able to activate my new SIM card on the number of my choice. Works great! Plus, I just went online and the $25.00 was credited to my next bill!!!!!
