hey
i just got an htc s620 and when i go into messaging and click on "new" , the keypad goes to numeric funtion and when i switch back to letters, it types the names but i dont get a word completion like on the pocket pc os.

is there any way to turn that function on? i type a lot of txts and its annoying to have to press "menu"and the "add recepient".

um hit alt space and select xt9

yea it toggles it from numeric to letters but it still doesnt activate word completion so that it can find contacts automatically.

ok do you have a dash or do you have the s620. cause on the dash it brings up a menu with xt9 english or abc. select xt9. if you have the s620 i dont think it does this.

you can download the cab over at xda developers.
i wouldn't though. xt9 sucks.

That's correct. The HTC rom on the 620 does not have Xt9. All you can do is toggle thru the keyboard entry mode e.g. numbers, caps, etc.

its not really that i need word completion for texts. i just want to be able to type the first letter and then see a choice of different contacts, just like on pocket pcs.

it makes writing txt messages less cumbersome than clicking on "menu"...

i know what you're saying -- you want the auto contact fill when you start typing the contact name. ms didn't put that feature on smartphone. you can press the centre of the dpad instead of going to menu. that's the shortest way.

thanks for the center button tip, i didnt know that was a shortcut to contacts.

does anyone know how to enable the auto-correct feature on the s620? ie.: when i write "dont" on the pocket pc os it corrects it and displays "don't" instead.

The WM5 SP platform doesn not have an auto correct feature.
