Official BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Pre-Release Thread

Is this the prerelease for B2B on 11/01's been pushed back to 11/08, therefore, pushing back all other channels (store, and regular customers) back further than 11/08, or 11/08 release nationwide for all channels?

Actually another friend has the 8703e and I've not experienced the background noise issue speaking to her on that phone, so don't think its an issue on the 8703e... but very noticeable on my other friend's 8830.

It's sounding more and more like the B2B is going to be on 11/8 along with the rest of the channels. Several B2B reps have independently stated that date anyways.

Anyone have any thoughts on the non-contract price? I was thinking ~ 300-400.

Posted by: Scientia

So would the pre-sale still be tomorrow and the public release next thursday or does that all get pushed back?

Posted by: Gabatta

Who knows? However it sounds like there is not going to be a pre-sale at all.

Posted by: kristina.kozak

There is a nice thread on blackberryforums.com about this phone. Sounds like GPS is disabled, but here is the link so you can decide for yourself.

VZW 8130 Preview

Posted by: docrootcanal

the 8703e was a great phone ...no background sounds or hearing problems, but the 8830 went back to the store within the week.... hope the pearl 2 is better

I read that thread. The person who has the 8130 received a demo unit curtosy of VZW but that is RIM's property (even says "Property of Research In Motion" on the back like all demo units do).

IOW, it's not a retail release model.

Nice find. So far, his experience doesn't sound so hot.

The only thing he complained about really was the GPS, which personally I could care less about.

Oh yeah, I totally agree. I don't really care about having GPS. I'm getting this phone no matter what. I just thought I'd share what I had found since so many people were speculating about the GPS capabilities. Plus there are pics in there too.

Posted by: vrs626

Any new info on release dates. That blackberryforums thread had all sorts of different dates in it....November 9, November 11th, "mid-November," etc.

Posted by: liquidplatinum

Still is and always has been Nov 8.

that is what I meant by a "sleeve"...

see -> http://www.shopblackberry.com/_blac...2DG25MAAP34BJZE

They included one with the T-Mobile Curve (8320)... But the AT&T Curve (8300) doesn't include either "pocket" or holster

The T-Mobile and AT&T Pearls don't include anything either.

Regarding the inactive GPS, the device in question is clearly a demonstration model, and all of the other demo models also had disabled GPS. From everything I've read, VZ Navigator for this and the other BlackBerry with GPS is supposed to be rolled out soon, so hopefully the retail units will ship with usable GPS.

i've got a full spec sheet. it has VZ navigator listed in the programs. anyone able to host a PDF for me?

Posted by: bturkel

Can someone tell me if you will be bale to get MMS messages on this phone? I love my 8830 but not to get pictures via MMS is really a minus for me.

Posted by: mattag29

I know that you can get mms on t-mobile's and at&t's pearl so I am assuming you can on Verizon's one.

You can send it to humpa at humpa dot com and I'll do something with it and post it here.

I think getting it to someone like FAUguy (via http://www.howardforums.com/member.php?userid=12978 perhaps) usually works as well.

Once I saw Humpa's post I decided that if CellularSales wanted it hosted, Humpa would probably be able to do it sooner than I would.....

There is always rapidshare, sendspace and all those free hosting sites. lol

It's 12:05am, no plan changes, no BB pre-order. Everyone is lying, the info was false, I'm porting to at&t because VZW is the Devil.

In his review he said he wasn't impressed. However if he's comparing it against an existing Pearl or Curve to the VZW Pearl being unimpressed just means there isn't any major changes. Whereas for us VZW users, just getting the Pearl is great.

I always found fault in demo units though. They always had weird quirks. I haven't heard one negative thing yet from my VZW peeps that already have retail units so we'll see I guess.

That's also a good point. Regardless, I'm excited to have the Pearl on VZW - I really think the reviewer was looking for some drastic changes compared to his Curve.

Based on the people you have talked to with the Pearl, do you know if there is anyway to separate out BES email from the main combined inbox?

Anyone have any information on pricing yet?

Also...I freaking HATE Verizon's choice of silver...hated it on the 8830, and hate it on the 8130...

So rather than just complain and get a case...I'd like to ask if anyone knows whether or not a OEM housing on current Pearls will fit the Verizon one

(i.e. buying a red housing and swapping it out on the VZW one)

All information would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

I just ordered the blue and white housings.

I will let you guys know as soon as I receive them.

They are the same exact dimension, except a minor .02" difference on the depth but ill fix that

Cool. Looks consistent with what was mentioned earlier at http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...9&postcount=716, assuming there's also the $100 data credit/discount/rebate.

Yea, the data discount also applies.

With NE2 and ADC I'm coming up with $99.99 for my pre-order. Pretty good deal I think.

The pre-orders have been up for some time and nobody has posted anything about it?

Also, there is no rebate on it, only a $100 discount. Weird. Well, we will see later on I guess.

I've been checking the site fairly often and it doesn't seem that the phone appeared there until maybe about an hour or so ago, if not less than that. And, yes, looks like there's a $100 online discount (not sure if that's the ADD one or not) and nothing else, at least not yet, like another rebate or something like that, as far as I can tell.

Posted by: pballa2099

whats the retail price now preorders are up

Someone was asking this earlier:

Included Accessories

* USB Data Cable
* BlackBerry® Pocket (no warranty)
* BlackBerry Travel Charger
* 3.5 mm 4 Pole Stereo Headset
* Documentation Kit (including BlackBerry Tools CD)

Just logged in to my account, and looked at the phone upgrades (i'm not elgible for an upgrade).

Retail price is listed as $319.99

Is it me, or is that crazy cheap for this thing??

I believe its a mistake, take advantage of it while you can.

If I remember correctly the price was $469.99 retail or $519.99, but it could of been a different phone.

Don't have the info at the moment.

The cat is out of the bag! That software enhancement everyone's been speculating about has been revealed! The 8130 will be running... Windows Mobile!!! No, not really, but check out VZW's product page for the Pearl 2 -- http://products.vzw.com/index.aspx?...ext&phone=pearl -- and click on "3G Turbo Boost." Pretty funny, but also a pretty atrocious slip up for Verizon.

Heres a pic for the lazy people

Posted by: 0mie

Maybe the prices are not so out of the question.

The att Pearl is $349.99 retail and the Tmo Pearl is $299.99 retail.

They have been out a whole lot longer though, but im just trying to make sense of all this.

$299.99 with 2 yr.

Then it would make is $349.99 with 1 yr. Thats $30 more then retail, might as well buy full retail.

My retail pricing should be correct but its late and im super tired and I probably dont know what im talking about (The prices dont include NE2 and ADD discounts of course or the instant rebate)

How were you guys able to order the phone online?

I logged onto my account on verizonwireless.com, did the upgrade phone option, and since I have to purchase it at full retail, the phone didn't appear. Am I missing something here?

Any help will be appreciated.

No, now it appears to be unlimited instead of 10mb/month. Anyway, as was already stated, the email/web for BB is an upgrade to current voice plans. Simply log on to your account, upgrade to the Pearl, don't change your plan, and then another page with additional options appear. The 29.99 email/web option is on that page.

Did anyone notice that Vzn Navigator is not an added option? Did I miss something? Perhaps the GPS is not crippled and can be used as a stand alone - I sure hope so!

I just clicked the upgrad phone once logging in. It told me I wasnt elgible, I clicked upgrade, and it showed me every phone @ full retail. Pearl was listed there for 319.

Posted by: portseven

It is actually showing VZ Navigator under the capabilities tab, so I guess we won't have unrestricted GPS on it.

Posted by: fredyoon

Are all you guys B2B customers?

It still doesn't show up on my account to upgrade to the Pearl.

Posted by: dimabrook

pre order, when does this phone ship if you order it now? before the nov. 8th release

Not showing up on my B2B upgrade page either...

Anyone know when the retail stores will have these in stock?

Should be in stores on the 8th, or 9th at the latest from what I've been hearing. The 11/8 launch is all channels.

Posted by: ferniesp

The 8130 gives me no excitement whatsoever. After playing with other carriers Pearls, there is no way in hell that I could tolerate the small keypad. Have fun with it though.

Posted by: maxint

so it's available for me to upgrade..... however with new every 2, they list the price as $199 - $100 advance device credit. No additional $50 online discount ......

so if you are a new customer, the phone is $150, but new every 2 is $100.... frankly this is like false advertising... very annoyed...... thought it would be $50

Posted by: bkw13

Ah, just ordered mine too, full retail of just $319.99 for a Pearl is great. Considering regular EVDO phones that I get are usually $369.99 at minimum for retail.

I was looking at that as well, but I don't see any indication that the $29.99 plan includes unlimited data.

spoke to CSR... the $100 Advance device + $50 online discount is only for new customers....

New every 2 customers only get the $100 credit.... frankly it's bs...

Posted by: machpost

Now I'm thinking that the $29.99 "Email and Web for BlackBerry®" data plan must be unlimited, because I went through the New Every Two upgrade, while keeping my current America's Choice $39.99 voice plan and adding the $29.99 data plan, and the $100 advanced device credit is still showing up at checkout! The advanced device credit reads as so:

Quote:
Receive up to a $100 instant credit off any PDA or BlackBerry device when activating an unlimited data and voice plan $39.99 or greater.

So, for that credit to show up, it must mean that the $29.99 data plan is unlimited.

Indeed. That $49.99 "unlimited" data plan is capped at 5GB, according to the sales rep I just chatted with.

I just placed my order and decided to go for the 10MB plan. I've never had a data-capable phone before, so I have no idea how fast I'll burn through 10MB.

I just got off the phone with customer service after pre ordering the Pearl, and the csr told me the $29.99 Blackberry plan included unlimited data and wasnt capped at 10mb. I even had her note it to my account so i wouldnt have any surprises on my bill.

Hmmm not what I've been told and how come I can't even pre-order the phone through a CSR?

That's what the CSR told me -- just got off the phone with him. He said that the 29.99 plan is unlimited.

He also said that the doors have blown in with requests for this phone already! He didn't know if there would be enough supply for the 8th release date! Makes me frustrated as my NE2 was all messed up and now I will have to wait up to 48 hours to get it fixed before I can pre-order!

I wonder if there was another, preexisting data plan that was $29.99 and had a 10MB cap. If this is indeed a brand new data plan, perhaps there is some confusion among CSRs.

Posted by: bkw13

This is ridiculous! I spoke with a CSR and supervisor, and neither of them said they know anything of the $29.99 plan being unlimited, yet, on the website, it doesn't say whether it's 5 mb, 10, 20, or unlimited.

I spoke to Data Support, he said 10 megs.

Posted by: x ray tech

When I was questioning the rep, she told me that the 29.99 Blackberry data plan was a new plan that just started today.

Posted by: JohnBoy

I realize this a link to the B2B site and consumer plans may be different, but chances are it will be the same.

The 29.99 specifies unlimited data the same way as the regular plan
http://b2b.vzw.com/productsservices...llingplans.html

And if you think about it, a 10 MB plan for 29.99 wouldn't make any sense since there is already a 10 MB BB plan for less than this!!

Posted by: jdougal

I guess I'm just going to pay full retail. I have a contract upgrade avaliable but for $30 it doesn't really seem worth it.

Yes and that's the one is still active, I've been told by 4-5 CSR's today that the $29.99 has a 10mb cap

I don't have a Biz plan so maybe that's where all the confusion is coming from?

Just had a chat with a CSR online.

"Please wait for a Verizon Wireless sales representative to assist you with your order. Thank you for your patience!
A Verizon Wireless online pre-sales specialist has joined the chat. You are now chatting with tracie
You: Hello
tracie: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
You: Yes, can you explain the difference in data plans for Blackberrys
tracie: I'd be happy to help you with that.
You: Thank you
tracie: The difference is the Email plan will give unlimited data.
tracie: The Email and Messaging plan will give you unlimited data and unlimited messaging.
You: So "Email and Web for BlackBerry®" for $29.99/month gives you unlimited data?
tracie: No the unlimited data is offered on the voice and data plan.
tracie: You will have access to 10MB on the $29.99 plan.
You: Ok thank you very much. "

Posted by: pattwak

I talked to several reps yesterday and they all quoted unlimited BIS service for 29.99... also, full cost on the phone is 319.99... I'm ordering mine today!!!!

So does anyone know what a "4 Pole" Stereo Headset means? Is it the type with a mic built in?

It's fascinating how idiotic these Care reps are.

Placed my order, $356.98. I paid full retail and purchased a belt clip along with it. I can't wait.

Posted by: maxint

just spoke with an order rep... said nobody has asked about it yet... very surprising...

This is what I just found under my corp page:

Monthly
Charge Primary
line

BlackBerry

Blackberry Solution™ 10MB of Data Usage

$24.99 Add

Blackberry Solution™ Unlimited Data Usage

$44.99 Add

Email and Web for BlackBerry®

$29.99 Add

So they specifically describe the Blackberry solution of $24.99 for 10mb, the Blackberry Solution of $44.99 for unlimited, but list a 3rd option of "Email and Web for blackberry", but they don't say what that is.

I suppose we'll find out next week

Quick question: I can't find the silver stand/charging dock in this picture anywhere. Anybody know what it is and where i can get one?

Here is the website that was posted in the calling plan change thread:

It clearly states the data as unlimited.

Everyone. When you go through the pre-sale process it asks you which you would like to choose.

0mie explained this previously. I don't know why everyone is freaking out. The website explains it and you can choose the option when you pre-order.

Posted by: Vatothe0

It's more for consumers actually. The new 29.99 plan will not work with BES.

The feature is available to everyone is my point. He was asking if it is ONLY available to B2B customers.

I think it was established a long time ago in this thread and the calling plan change thread that no BES was included in the $29.99 plan.

If people don't understand that by now, they really must not have been doing their homework for the past month.

Posted by: machpost

The support page for the Pearl is now up on vzw.com: link.

Posted by: antiphon

I'm guessing the $29.99 plan is unlimited since it would clearly state in the terms what the charge is for usage over 10mb. I read over the terms and there is no mention of additional fees for usage over 10mb.

Does the Advanaced Data Credit require a new 2 year contract term? Or can you apply it if you purchase the phone for retail price (no contract extension)?

So there is going to be a $50MIR available if you do not pre-order, but wait until the 8th; and it will only be available for phone orders? If this is the case, I can wait until the 8th and not pre-order. Does anyone have confirmation on this?

What kind of text/pix messaging allowances does the 29.99 plan give you? It says it is "included" but does not tell you how many you can send to non-in people.

I pre-ordered, the problem is, the $29.99 doesn't say "unlimited, nor does it say 10mb", it doesn't specify at all. However, the 44.99 plan does specify and says "unlimited". That's why everyone is freaking out. That, plus the fact that 2 CSR's and one supervisor all told me it was 10mb and they have no info regarding a 29.99 unlmtd plan.

If you are worried about it then dont order it and your dilema is solved. You can get it at a later date when you are 100000000% sure that its unlimited data.

TXT/PIX messaging basic is included. There is no unlimited IN messaging included. It's in the fine print at the bottom.

Per that same website:

"15¢ per text message sent or received (including messages to and from wireless customers in Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico). International Text Messaging is 15¢ per message received and 25¢ per message sent. Send and receive pictures and videos for 25¢ per message."

that translates to NO TXT/PIX allowance.

Thanks LP. I was wondering what that was all about.

If I wanted IN txt/pix then I gotta add that on as well then I guess. I'm gonna make a new thread with my particular situation so I don't crap up this one.

Also I wanted to clarify - is there going to be a $50 mail in rebate after the phone is released? If so I'm just gonna wait.

I feel your pain... after about 5 CSR's I finally got somewhere

I was told that the $30 and $45 add on data plans on the internet are wrong and that they haven't updated the website yet, you have to call to get this updated plan.

The $45 unlimited plan is now $30 as everyone has stated, it's just not reflected on the website yet.

and Holy cow VZW needs to do a better job informing their employees

Cheaper BB plans = less CSR training?

I'm looking for the silver dock in this picture, but I can't find it anywhere.

Anybody know where I could find one of these?

Posted by: TheHedonist

Yea, the business side telesales aren't any better. They're insisting I move off my old family share plan in order to upgrade, and they haven't heard of new BIS plan. If any of you reps can process b2b discounts, I'll be happy to give you the commission on a 3-line family plan plus BIS on the primary line.

Edit: Interestingly, he was offering me the Pearl for $50 with no rebates. But as you can see from the above, he hardly knew what he was talking about, so that's not necessarily the b2b price.

Posted by: Redflea

Why doesn't the description of the Pearl on the Verizon web site (http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/...tedPhoneId=3296) say anything about WiFi support? Does "Broadband access connect capable" = WiFi, or ? Have I misunderstood, I thought the Pearl included WiFi.

I was told today that phone reps can take orders on 11/8 and offer the additional $50MIR on top of the NE2 and ADC. I can wait a week for the extra $50. The $50 MIR is NOT available online.

Posted by: halfkorean

If you go to an authorized store they have new booklets out with the Pearl and I760. In a little graph it states that the $29.99 plan is available with a qualified voice plan and features unlimited data. If you have no voice plan then it is $39.99 with unlimited data. This is only for Blackberries and BIS, not BES.
Also if you preorder online it will give you the $100 ADC even if you current on a data plan. It will add it at the end. So if you have NE2 and ADD it will be $99 +tax.

From what I understand, the GSM model of the Pearl 2, the 8120, includes WiFi but does not include GPS. The CDMA model of the Pearl 2, the 8130, doesn't include WiFi, but includes GPS.

When I went to choose a phone it told me I may qualify for the ADD so I picked the phone and the $29.99 plan and then wehn i went to the summary page it had the credit on it and I accepted the order. I already have the unlimited data plan on my I730 and it still offered it to me. I was just checking because when I went to the store to check and try to order my phone and they said they couldnt order it yet from them and they told me I couldn't use the ADD.

The new business/pda brochures state that the unlimited BIS plans are $29.99.

the shipping says 2-5 days. is that 2-5 days after the 8th or is verizon going to overnight them?

Posted by: jdougal

For some reason when I ordered I did not get offered the Advance Device Credit (I paid full retail). Now I just went into my account and was playing around with another number on my family plan. On that account I can upgrade at the reduced price for a contract extension for 299. Now for this number it is offering me the Advance Device Credit. Can someone please explain this? Is there a way to get the credit on the order I already placed? I did not previously have a data plan on either account and during my order today I added the 29.99 plan.

Demo Unit in hand... it is NOT active yet.. rep told me it will be in a day or two.. This came right from RIM to Verizon Rep to me... has Property of Research in Motion and Evaluation stickers on it...

RIM OS = v4.3.0.60 (Platform 3.1.0.32)

First impression... its slightly heavier than the GSM pearl but not enough to mind it....

Voice Notes Recorder, and Video Recorder are new...

The MicroSD slot is on the side instead of under the battery the way the GSM is, but the cover looks like it might "break off" easy...

I do like the predictive typing a lot better than the GSM pearl... it works better, and the possible word list is a DROP DOWN list that shows more choices than the side by side of the GSM pearl.

Screen just as Clear and easy to read.

Not sure if this is "release firmware" as no VZNav on it... then again.. we'll have to see when its active if it comes down like the browser icons and setup personal email icons do...

keyboard is more "sculptured" than the GSM... but this is nice to type on.. keys are responsive, but slightly "loose" (i.e. the wiggle)...

Yeah, I'll have mine tomorrow as well.....

I don't know if this even means anything, but I checked the status of my order, and it says that I should receive my order within 2-3 days. They have also charged my credit card which they wouldn't do until the order shipped.

So, what do you guys think? Will I get my Pearl early, or did they charge my card early?

Posted by: mattag29

My account is not showing the $100 off, and is also not showing it as a pre-order. It is showing a $50.00 mail in rebate now.

I am on the 60.00 per month family plan with one extra line, if I change that plan to a more expensive one will I get the $100 off?

Posted by: FAUguy

Once the phone come out, we'll have the Official Release Thread.

I just ordered 5 minutes ago and have the same information. If you go to the Verizon website to order, it is not a preorder item anymore.

Nice. I wonder if we're going to be a bunch of happy Pearl owners a week earlier than we thought.

Looks like it. I just looked on the site and it says nothing about pre-orders. Weird.

wow.. switched out the online $50 discount and put a MIR instead.. bizarre!!! there an "advanced device" credit also???

Posted by: liquidplatinum

I called customer care around 7am and had them overnight it. Totally avoided the whole pre-order. She said the $50 MIR would be in the box as well.

Cost me $3.75 after MIR.

http://products.vzw.com/index.aspx?...ext&phone=pearl

It now reads: "Now available online, Available in stores 11/8"

I'm thinking this might have been decided earlier today, when they saw the flood of pre-orders comming in and decided if they held them in a queue for a week, they were gonna kill themselves come next week when they had to ship em all out.

I assume this doesn't have REV A. EVDO on it huh...

Nope. No Rev A. I'm pretty sure the XV6800 is still going to be the first Rev A VZW device.

I ordered this morning and just received shipping confirmation for two day delivery. It will arrive on Monday.

A Verizon Wireless online pre-sales specialist has joined the chat. You are now chatting with Crystal
You: It seems as though the 8130 is now available online if i order tonight when will it arrive
Crystal: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
Crystal: I'd be happy to help you with that.
Crystal: That phone is currently available for preorder.
Crystal: It will be released Nov. 6.

Mine is coming Monday as well.

The VX6800 doesn't look too bad, could be thinner though would be nice...

So the Pre-Orders lasted only a few hours, weird!

Could possibly be the most pointless VZW marketing ploy I've seen yet....

Posted by: curtisdr

So is the deal on the phone now, since it's not pre-order, any different then it was this morning? I can't tell since I've already ordered.

Hey Mark,

How about a little more info on the phone. Such as how's the camera? have you taken any pictures, if so can you post them? Even though the service isnt active can you tell any initial differences in the browser? Any other changes worth discussing, compared to the 8830?

So can I call CS to order it now then? Or do I still have to wait?

Edit: I have to call CS to order my phone because of some "misunderstandings" on my account

Posted by: x ray tech

I just called customer service and the rep said that anyone that pre ordered can get the 50 dollar rebate, and that the form should come with the phone.

Are you being sarcastic or serious? I'm sure when he has it fully operational and has used it throughly he'll give a more in-depth review.

Mostly sarcastic, i am completely surprised that everyone hasnt started hounding him for some more informatiom..... I will be patiently waiting just like the rest for a full review.....

My delimma is that a co-worker is going to be buying my 8830 from me for $300 which id perfect i'll only be shelling out about $350 full retail for the pearl. The thing is is that she is wanting my phone asap, but i am leaving on the 6th at 8:00am for a flight to NC for my company, i will not be returning until the 14th which i fear if i wait till the 14th to sell her the phone she will have already gotten another one then there goes my $300 to pay for the pearl. But i cant be witout my blackberry while im away.... So if i order tonight do you think that i will get the phone in time for my trip or not???

I know others are saying they will get theirs monday, but can i really count on that?

Just got home from work...

No I haven't taken pictures yet... Not allowed to use cameras or the camera in phones while on my work's campus...

Browser differences?? Um, no. becuase the Browser icon is not there until the phone is activated and registered on Verizon's network and the service books come down...

I have been typing test messages and such on it... It is WAY BETTER than my GSM pearl. Keyboard is more comfortable and the prediction is more accurate (and I even edit the custom word list on my GSM pearl)...

WOW... they just keep making sure type better and better!!!! The 8100 was better than the 7100, and the 8130 is better than the 8100.

Themes are the same as the 8830, PLUS there is a BB Dimension L theme... Think of it as the standard verizon theme from the 8830 with 5 icons along the bottom, but ALSO 5 icons down the left side...

Extra option under Screen/Keyboard... Menu Style... choices are Short Menu and Full Menu... When set to Short, pressing in on Ball gives "Short Menu"... when set to full... pressing Ball gives Full menu... NICE... Force of habit has been press ball and get menu (because of using thumb wheel for so long), so this helps

Using the Voice Notes Recorder Icon on home screen Records only... to play back, go into the Media application which gives you choices for Music, Video, Ring Tones, Pictures and Voice Notes.

File Total: 50462720
File Free: 12240104

New thing... Under Options -> Security Options... is Memory Cleaning... Not sure exactly what it does, since BB's have always had a built in memory manager.

that is all I can say until I can activate this device...

sorry for asking again, but the $29 plan DOES included unlimited data?

Yes. The BIS plan is unlimited.

Posted by: Nthach

OK guys, VZW gave me a free 8830 was a winback and do I have to give up the 8830 for the Pearl?

Posted by: WebBull

I pre ordered this morning and paid $99 for my Pearl (which I am thrilled about) based on the following:

$299 on-line price
-$100 on-line discount
-$100 ADC

Does this mean that my NE2 was never applied and will be available in the future ?

Posted by: Mark_Venture

Just wanted to say...

I can't test if GPS is fully operational or VZNav Only until I can activate

Options -> Advanced Options -> GPS...

GPS Data Source: Device GPS (no other choice!)
GPS Services: Location On or 911 Only

There are NO services books on this device except Verizon Wireless [WAP] so what I can do with it until I can activate it is limited. Sorry.

I have to wait until RIM sets up the 30 day test account. If this wasn't a Demo/Loaner Unit, I'd activate on my line...

PS: VZW CC issued unit is on the way, which I Can/Will activate on my account, as it will be MINE to keep

Same here. Left West Chester, PA at 6:23 PM and is scheduled to arrive on Monday by 7 PM.

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to get the contacts from my Nokia 6236i onto this thing? I've successfully exported them all to .vcf format with Nokia PC Suite, so I would hope there is an easy way to port them to the Pearl, since that is a standard format. I'm assuming that BlackBerrys don't have Get It Now, so Backup Assistant isn't going to be any help.

If you can import the .vcf's into outlook.. no problem

Use the included Blackberry desktop manager to sync your outlook contacts with the Pearl.

There's an online discount also? Is that in addition to the ADD and NE2? Am I missing something or would it be free with the online discount, ADD, and NE2? Or does the online discount not apply with the NE2?

Posted by: jdougal

I purchased online and didn't get an online discount :-(

Posted by: ata100

does anyone know when it will be available on the employee discount site?

Posted by: havaloc

I'm getting prices of $249 on a one year on the standard upgrade site, and $299 for a two year (which is conveniently discounted with NE2 down to $199). Other phones are not priced backwards like the 8130 is (the rest are all cheaper on a 2-yr before discount than the 1-yr).
