My mom needs 2 phones for her work that'll work with cingular. The only requirement is good reception and call quality. It doesn't need a camera, music, internet, etc. The cheaper the better.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia 6620: Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.1.7196/1630; en; U; ssr))

Just go to walmart and get a go phone.

Yeah i agree. I just picked up a Sony Ericsson J220a from k-mapart for about $26. Works great. Well built, color screen, MMS/SMS, decent call quality, and long battery life.

I think wally-world (walmart) sells these phones for less than $10 in some places. Its a steal!

I guess they aren't 10 bucks with airtime on Cingular prepay anymore?

Hmm not sure. Like I said, I got my from kmart so the price was a little higher. It came in the round plastic "Pay as you go" casing with 10$ for prepay service airtime.

on a side note though, this phone is perfect for postpaid. nice to know if i lose it or ruin it, i can always drive 5 miles down to the store and pick up another one for chump change pretty much

Can I just get a gophone, stick my mom's sim card in and be good to go. Since my mom doesn't need anything fancy, I was hoping to get her a cheap phone, while she gets a phone at a renewel price and gives it to me (my current phone is broken and I'm a year away from being eligible to upgrade)

I wouldn't recommend the C139. Some people I talk to say I sound muffled and I always hear hissing and background noise on the phone. People that I talk to however sound extremely clear on my end of the phone.
