I see several "signatures" with their radio settings or something of the such. Can someone explain what exactly they are doing? Are they changing how the phone connects or something to get better reception? I would love to know how to do it so i get better reception in certain buildings. If i am being ignorant then just say so. Thanks.

you probably mean firmware radio. firstly, it depends on what device you have. generally there differences are minor anyways.

Your question is valid and not ignorant. I myself have installed two different Radio ROM's, than what was installed with the latest ROM for my T-Mo MDA. (AKA Hermes/8125)

The Radio ROM's are being installed to see if it does help with reception and, or battery life. I have had success with the updates, while others have not, even though we use the same hardware. (Go figure)

Improvements for myself were both in signal strength and a significant increase in data throughput using EDGE.
