Wanting to flash my K750i but a bit unsure

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I guess there's been many-a-thread. Can't quite find what i'm looking for though...

I have a camera problem with my K750i which i have mentioned here : http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1119937

On another forum, i was advised to flash the phone using DaVinci.

I don't know my CID, however, i read you can find it out by [ > * < < * < * ], going to Service Info > Software Info then scrolling to where it says ITP SW Version it'll say CXC ### ###_[your CID here] R1C

If this is a way of finding out your CID ... then i have 49. I don't understand, but a lot of people seem to think this is the end of the world. Why is this? Does this mean i can't do what i want to?

So i'd like to flash it to regain my zoom & keep the shutter sound gone.

I'm also told i can increase the SMS capacity (as i'm sure this fills up quicker than my original K750i), but don't know how to

Could someone please answer my questions on this & point me in the right direction of a tutorial, or even give me a step-by-step - as i don't want to break my phone.

Check CID:

Quote:
1. CID49 K750 IMEI will probably have some difference to CID36

2. (More reliable) Remove the battery of the phone, look at label, you will see a string like:

05W27

That means the phone was made in 2005 Week 27 (I think lol)

You just need to findout when CID49 K750's came into production, if your K750 has an earlier date...well, it must be CID36.

Remove SMS storage limitation

You can remove the storage limitation so that you can store more than 500 sms?s. This trick works by changing the sms message store to the tpa folder, where the message limitation is not in force

Copy the file /ifs/settings/messaging/pref_store.txt from the phone to the computer, make a backup, then edit it to read /tpa instead of /smsdata, then delete the file from the phone then copy in the new version.

Now you need to create the message store in the /tpa folder. Create the following folder structure in the /tpa folder:

/tpa/messaging
/tpa/messaging/sms
/tpa/messaging/sms/msg
/tpa/messaging/sms/FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
/tpa/messaging/sms/FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF/pending
/tpa/messaging/sms/FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF/sm
/tpa/messaging/sms/FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF/sr
/tpa/system/messaging/sms

Restart the phone. You can now stored as many messages as you like ;-)

HOWEVER, in practice you can only store about 1000 messages, beyond and the inbox access becomes painfully slow. In theory you can store 40000 or more.

Mine would be 2006 Wk 52 then

as for the SMS thing, that totally threw me lol

For the SMS thing you Need an Program Called "FAR MANAGER"

Posted by: capljina8

yeah liek mclaren said far manager for sms
but for your zoom have u ever been able to use it???
i ask because if your pic size is set to large u can not use zoom so check that out b4 flashing

Posted by: Kev_83

with my old K750i, i was able to zoom fully(4x) on high resolution but not on my new K750i.

I'm told Far is more risky than DaVinci, but that DaVinci can also be used to increase SMS capacity

Posted by: McLaren_F1

Yes, FAR is more Advanced but its Free. Davinci is easier but you pay a price.

Posted by: Kev_83

Don't think i'd want to risk it. I'd rather pay for something simple to use than risk my mobile for free. lol. £6plonk could save me £100+ in the end.

EDIT: Just used DaVinci ... same problem as i got yesterday...

I have a problem close to yours. My w600 recently got the white screen of death (WSOD) so I purchased wotan credits to try and flash it. Heres what I always get:
Quote:
phone found.
phone found at position 1
DB2010 detected
LOADER: OK
060206 1814 NPACXC125872_COMPACTPRODUCTION_ID_LOADER P3H
FC ID: 89 0D
EROM: BROWN CID49
You will have to change color to RED
OTP: RED CID49
OTP: IMEI xxxxxxxxxxx
GDFS: W600i
GDFS: CDA102453/17
internal DB number is 2010
BROWN CID49 phone detected
Conversion is supported only for CID 36 right now
== FAILED ==
Duration: 00:01

I'm thinking of purchasing setool3 so I would be able to fix this, and cause I always have phones laying around that need unlocking..

i read something about brown phones having issues or whatever it was. Can't remember now. Something about them needing to be converted to red phones.

If i could remember the piece i read, i'd link it for you. Sorry.

Yea I read quite a bit on subject and thats what I came up with, however, there was also an issue when unlocking the se w600, it would convert from red to brown or soemthing to that effect.

yeah with the different fws

I'm interested in a solution to the zoom problem, as my K750i on O2 with firmware version R1CA021 does exactly the same….

No zoom when on the highest resolution

2.5 x zoom on medium setting.

4 x zoom on the lowest setting.
